I left the rockingham boatramp before daybreak a couple of weeks ago, gently as you do and as leant out of the boat for a nose blow I nearly was decapitated by an unlit white pvc pipe standing up like a buoy approx 100mm diameter and about six feet out of the water on my return I realised there was string of the same markers that appeared to come from the south western tip of garden island and extending in a west south west direction out towards the 4 markers that lay in a sqaure out there approx 3mile from the boatramp I always take extreme care in the dark, I have travelled that busy corridoor for 20 plus years and found it could quiet easily spear an unsuspecting boaty under closer look some of these markers were laying down and virtually impossible to see at all, can anyone tell me what they are and how long they will be there and should they be reported if they are laying down.i realise there is a broadcast twice a day but who can you contact at 4 in the morning to find out if there be bubytraps out there cheers to any feedback.
not putting enough concrete in the bottom of them.
I nearly decapitated myself when i drove off and forgot to pull the anchor.

Weird. The description you gave sounds exactly like the TCYC markers but I would of thought they pulled them during winter for maintenance.
Mabe its got somthn to do with that barge thats been layn cable. sounds like a recipe for disaster if theres no warning lights. Mabe notify sea rescue and tel them about the hazard so they can contact the relevant authoritys
