today we had a glorious dday in light winds on a new lake courtesy of cyclone rusty
the lake is called king of the west and in our little 31' schooner we felt rather small and insignificant.
All the years of storing and looking after the yacht (12 years with no water) have been worth these last couple of weeks ,so i thought i share a few pics.

its become a bit of a tradition with the few sails we get. theres usually a thermos of coffee, and a bottle of GGW rolling up and down the deck , great wayto spend the morning. by midday we go ashore to get the sausages done then back for a a'noon sail. the wind was patchy yesteday so i climbed overboard with the camera to get those shots. the lads promptly hit a large mismarked rock!!!!.
hopefully when we get a windier day I'll get some non millpond shots

scuppers are a rather handy thing after all
the baltic pine boards came from the verandah of and old pub, and the solid 2"thick transom was the rear door of a brothel

the jib in this shot is a kite from a Gwen 12 that last sailed on this lake in 1978

Bay of Islands (shame about the ****ty camera)
not the same as a mini schooner, or whatever it be, but a fantastic location. Just wanted to share : )
