ok said..
This is just the beginning of the end all thanks to THE BLOCK, HOUSE RULES and all the other bullisht shows on tv that get home owners thinking they are as good as if not better then real TRADESMEN ! As a tradesmen myself I'm continually going to jobs and fixing home owners stuff ups all because they saw it on tv n thought they could do it.
The most recently of which I cladded the entire side of a two storey town house and the home owner thought i was too expensive which ended him doing the opposite side of the house in a completely different profile board and not levelling around from the side of the house i did!
BUT WAIT THERES MORE!!!!
He finally reached the top of the house / eave height on his dodgy painters scaffold and fell off from roughly 6 meters in the air. Fell to the ground and smashed his ankle to pieces and is now spending the next 3 months off work and play, i think he is lucky he didn't die !
ps u can tell I'm a tradie as my grammar n such is horrible !
When i watch those shows, the thing that stands out for me, is the total lack of compliance to the OH&S Act, they promote no safety, work crazy hrs, have people in high heels etc, its just weird, and when did having imagination towards interior design qualify one for anything in regards to trades? Oh, I think a pink cushion would look good there, now let me knockout a structural beam, I like the finished products, they look vibrant, but the example the show sets in terms of safety, is simply very different to the standards others are expected to follow in the building industry, and considering it has such an uniformed audience, it should really be promoting safety and trade qualifications etc
