I used to be able to run my cursor over the wind/swell charts and it showed a little box with speed and time etc in it - now since updating to w8 i dont have that anymore - i am using chrome too - any ideas whats up?

Macs are actually very hackable configurable... I'm getting in to bash scripts.
It might be related security settings in the browser or your antivirus preventing active content - you might try looking in the browser advanced settings and adding the www.seabreeze.com.au as an exception for things like Java, cookies, popups etc. Also try turning off your Antivirus.
Windows 8 is also really two Operating systems in one - that is- a tablet version and desktop version. If you are experiencing issue running the seabreeze page by running the browser from the tiled "tablet version' try going to the standard desktop, running Internet explorer rather than chrome and see if the page displays better that way.
I also find odd issues with android based browsers needing to be explicitly set to open "desktop" version of sites as opposed to mobile versions which have functionality and formating desgined for the limited capabilities of a mobile device.
