Last year there was a great thread re music that you listened to as a teenager that you are still listening to.

Inspired by this I have had months and months of trawling through music neglected but not forgotten. In the process my 6 and 4 your old music lovers have gone nuts over some things (The Beatles, the Pixies, the Specials) and have been indifferent to others.

I am interested in what others are passing on and their experiences of doing so.

Below is the standout track from this process of discovery / rediscovery - A classic bit of white boy mod soul - the boy practices his Tim Rogers / Steve Marriott / Pete Townsend moves every time it comes on, but its hard to get him to do his piano lessons as all he wants is and axe

ENJOY

Would have to be this one, I still remember listening to it on a mates walkman for the first time. Couldn't believe anything could sound so amazing. First CD i ever owned...first CD to sell 1 million copies. Cutting edge video at the time too.

Recently, I tought myself to play the elecy guitar for one reason, so I could play along to this. Took a few years, but worth the effort. Right, time to torture the neighbours some more

That is not quality and it is not really "Apache". This is.

The original and the best, "Apache" by the Shadows.

I am passing this guy on to the next gen.

Tim Buckley. First heard him in 1975 on this album "Greetings from L.A." and it blew me away. Sexiest singer I have ever heard.

And this song is really sexy. Listen to the lyrics.

But part of the package is this legend who really defined himself at Woodstock in 1969.

Then of course no collection of heavy metal music would be complete without some Ludwig Van as featured by Stanley K in "A Clockwork Orange".

Sorry Cisco I was being a bit tongue in cheek. Difficult to show in text. Shadows are cool

Mate, "Blind Faith" was a REALLY good pick. I have the album on vinyl.

No "Appy Pollie Loggies" needed for the Apache thing. Them dancing squaws made up for it.

Any Australian that did not pass on the music of the Great Joe Camilleri to their offspring would have to be declared just Un-Australian.

Here he is in 1979 in pretty good shape as he is today.

But given that and that most Aussie artists put out uplifting music, this guy has to be included among the Aussie Greats.

If the concepts and emotions encapsulated in this great song can be grasped and formed as part of their morality, there will be no limits on human achievement.
