I was just wondering what the attraction was with a non turbo V8 diesel Cassa?

Diesel technology has come in leaps and bounds recently with common rail injection, turbos and intercoolers.

The new 2.8L Jeep 4 cylinder for instance has similar performance on paper than the old Chev V8 and uses alot less diesel.

6.5L Chev Diesel: Kilowatt 130kW @ 3400 rpm
Torque 420Nm @ 1700 RPM

2.8L Jeep Diesel: Power 130kW @ 3800rpm
Torque 460Nm @ 2000rpm

The attraction is practicality, for 25 grand I get new suspension lift kit , completely new electrical system(the whole car),new high speed diffs, new long range fuel tanks-200ltrs, new radiator,complete 3 inch exhaust,heavy duty 5 speed box, the only old things on the car when I get it back will be me, the wheels ,brakes (just renewed), and all this done in 10 days with warranty's. The body and interior are smick~!!, and it will tow my 2 ton boat all day WITHOUT changing down gears to go over hills at 140kmph if I was mad enough to do so! I couldnt find a new car that would do this for the price. 25 grand only gets second hand with over 150,000 on the clock(didnt want to go down the used path again).I need the 3.5 tonne towing capacity,for future travelling.Fuel economy (from a mate with the same )is 13-15ltrs -100k;s highway, with his 3.2 tonne boat 17-19ltrs at 100 kmph (way to fast for that hey!)

Yea im a revhead, but my engine is capable of real revs all day long.

standard gear change when driving my 13B Turbo RX7 is around 5500rpm.

I had a 12at and didn't change till 8-9000 daily, hit 12,000 once whilst getting a little happy with a burnout. Wasn't exactly stock though, change the flywheel if you value your legs the way they are. The stocko rx-8's redline at 7500, IPRA cars will over-rev to around 14,000.

Pistons... not rubbish just different, to each their own

H'mm rotary revs,
I used to use the buzzer to let me know I was in the right rev range 8-9k on every change, ran better and got better economy, definitely better with steel (or race) flywheel, even had the wife driving at that rev range in her RX4 as well.
