some will think i am mad for believing that,

the earth is stationary + the sun revolves around the planets.

yes its the opposite of what we are taught at school, but it kind of makes sense to me.

if it was true the earth spins on its axxis every 24hrs + rotates around the sun every year then a couple of things just dont add up.

first,if we are moving so fast it does not appear to be the case.

2nd if we are moving so fast then the atmosphere will have to be moving at exactly the same speed as the rock we are standing on. when you throw up a ball, if no wind the ball will come down in same place. highly unlikely both could be moving at the same speed.

thirdly, why do the stars not move. if the earth is spinning 180 degrees every 12 hrs on its axxis then a star would appear just above the horizon + after 12 hrs move 180 degrees +then disappear.

correct me if i am wrong but i cannot see the stars move.

i am not conviced either way what is true or not.

a few years ago i heard a very religious scholar eric jon phelps say the earth is stationary + made these very points i have made.

No, the earth is not completely stationary! Are you crazy?

It can't be stationary as it revolves around me, as does the rest of the universe.

Any other interpretation of the facts don't add up!

Thank you.

Yep, they do move across the sky, about as fast as the sun and moon do. Which is once round us every day.

In fact you can tell the time from the position of the southern cross:

This post is so stupid is is barely even worth replying but to say the stats dont track across the sky... geez

Have you ever seen a star trail photograph?

Very long exposure time (4+hrs) looking at the sky, this is the result...

the southern cross seems to be in same position each time i look.every hour it should move 8.5percent. 12 times 8.5 equals 100 for full 180 degrees movement.

maybe i just did not notice the stars were moving that fast.

will have a good look next opportunity.

i played tennis tonight for a few hrs + picked out one star + guess what it appeared not to move at all. it should have moved in 2hrs 17 degrees by my counting.

not heard any info from doctor, maybe he can save me from my scepticism.

I think you're meant to wish upon a star after picking it out....maybe this is where you're going wrong. Otherwise get a gps and go sailing.....

1 - "if we are moving so fast it does not appear to be the case"
This is a subjective opinion, not science. When I am in my car doing 100km/hr, the handbrake does not appear to be moving at all. It is always to be found by my elbow irrespective of how fast I am moving. It "appears not to be moving" but I know it is, at 100km/hr, and anyone standing on the side of the road can see so.

2 - The atmosphere does not appear to be moving. Throw your rock high enough and it will move. The jetstream is very high indeed.
And again with the car analogy - I am in my car doing 100km/hr, and I toss a coin. It does not slam into the back of the car. It "appears to fall straight back down" and land in my hand. To someone standing on the side of the road the coin will have travelled some meters forward

3 - Stars moving.
This is relative to the angle of the star above the horizon. A star right above the southern pole will not move relative to the south pole - It will always be at 90 degrees. As you move away from the south pole that same star will inscribe an ellipse.
If you choose a star at 90 degrees to the equator it will move 15 degrees every hour.
Try it with a globe and see for yourself.

Love the theory, but the Flat Earth theory is a much more robust arguement.

Yes, you would be mad to discount 400 years of proven science based on one crackpot web site. To pick one example of millions: to figure out how to fire the rockets to land on the right spot on the moon it took Buzz Aldrin 2 years to write out the mathematical formula (filling many many blackboards) and to solve it. He did nothing else for 2 years before that trip, and he got it spot on. Science. Wins.

2nd. To add to jaybee, (another example of millions) heavy artillery has to compensate for the earth's spin. When they came up with guns that would fire 15kms or more, they started missing - always in the same direction when fired in one direction. Eventually figured the earth was turning under the projectile. Now they calculate for it, and don't miss.

That's the quality of thinking behind "Intelligent design", and they want to call it science.
