Virus has no borders.
but
Can you imagine world without borders ?
Ever?

Nowadays law of every country require their citizens to make ultimate sacrifice of their lives.
That may not longer be needed if whole planet don't have any borders at all.
First step made in Europe.
No need to invade or conquer neighbour ...

sounds good, but won't happen in our lifetimes.
Maybe if there was an alien invasion, we'd all get united, but then we'd probably be stuffed anyway.

Maybe not in our lifetime

But if we can see the goal we could follow the path ( to achieve it) .

For example for not amplifying border disputes , that becomes useless anyway one day (?)
at first
we may be aware
of main powers borders struggle.

But latter on all small and poor countries in africa

could find their goal to fight for every hill, river. meadow or tree.

Why wasting their time and resources,

when something more important could happen ( to bring what their people really need) ?

Sorry Rupert again ( mine common sense idol)
I can not help myself without complicating things that are easy.
The initial question should sound.

1. DID CLOSING OUR INTERNAL BORDERS WAS :
a) GOOD THING
b) BAD THING

2. IF WE SHOULD APPLY DOLLAR SIGN TO:
a) ECONOMY FIRST
b) HUMAN LIFE FIRST

How boring. I couldn't imagine anything worse than a homogeneous world society.
And as for Pugs comment about democracy. I've been to other countries with different systems, some of them are better. And before white men turned up here, what was the system...a lot of small dictatorships. There was no poverty.

Taking $1.2B from Australians to promote leftism and feminism... I think they should stop trying to brain wash Australians with a leftist agenda and better represent us and do more investigative journalism, or be funded wholly by the insane leftist.

China has one ready to step up to the task if Microscien gets his way. Indeed, they are so enamored of the idea, they're already setting out to put it into practice
The mere idea of it shows how divorced from the real world some people are.

World without borders do not create homogenous society.
IMO most of the people should stay where are they at this moment.
While you open borders. If we could assume open borders as a fact not utopia, how it may works without instant migration?
I could imagine that sort of nationality remains -as they do in EU.
As as citizen you receive 100 point and you are free to stay in the place you have been born.
Each nation could apply "open immigration policy"
Criteria depend on the country needs.
You could setup criteria as high as you want or lower in order to attract specific groups.
Main criteria could be education, qualifications and material wealth.

So for example if you want attract people to Australia you will setup such criteria that allow influx only of required quality ( plumbers and firefighters or PhD and engineers) at required rate - 100,000 per year.

Same may work even better for countries like USA ( instead of Green Lottery tickets) .

Most of the people most likely will stay where they have been born.

Unless you bomb the place , blow infrastructure to pieces or suffocate with sanctions.

Opening borders does't mean people will need to move instantly to the richest places on Earth.
Criteria to settle in Norway should be setup so high that no many may meet.

Privilege to live in the given place on Earth may still be limited ,even if you open borders.

But opening borders in such way negate need to conquer the place. Nations remains with their own economies based on locality.

PS as example could serve Australian open internal borders policy , You could live where you want, doesn't mean everybody move instantly to most livable city on Earth, Melbourne!

So if "all seeing, all powerful central government" is different from a democratic government why do you think it needs to be all seeing and all powerful, given that democracy sort of works?

Suppose that you are in poor african country.
Now you may want to emigrate to Norway to enjoy highest social quality living.
You immediately find out that:
- you need to send you kids to school and get at least 10 years of education
- drive only electric car
- you may have only one wife or husband
- stealing , cheating and raping is not allowed
-nobody cares about your religion on lack of any
- you need to be vaccinated and shaved sporadically to conform to local norms
-compulsory language is Norwegian and you need to learn it fast

So after a bit of consideration you did found that your african county is still the best place on Earth.
As long as nobody from outside drop napalm on your head, or prevent you from selling your bananas harvest to Norway at same price as others do.
Smart phones and internet are the same around the globe thanks to Elon Starlink.

Get rid of private property rights. Solved. No more Border disputes. but those that have will never give it up. Would you ? We will exterminate ourselves before a utopian borderless world comes about. Which by its very nature will be borderless without pesky human reaking havoc. So yeh it's possible. But only if we no longer exist.
