I reckon a return of Rudd is very unlikely. There are parliamentary members who are so anti Rudd they've apparently said privately that they would resign and bring down the government if he is re-elected leader

Does it matter? The federal parliamentary ALP will be lucky if they have enough MPs to field a shadow cabinet after the next election.

The ALP will be smashed by the Greens and the coalition. It will be similar to the last NSW state election.

Rudd is too good for the ALP. He tried to whip them in to shape but they were too stupid and just labelled him a non team player.

In an AFL game if you have a bunch of retards that don't even know what a ball is running around aimlessly, and 1 person who knows how to play scoring... he's not a team player.

Kevin is good for Australia, Juliar and the Buggy are an embarrassment... that Juliar in particular, the way it bobs it's head when talking, like it's a struggle to get the words (lies) out... or the poor victim of a stroke.

Here's what I recon;

Lose vs Loose
A lot of people are mixing up lose and loose. In particular, a lot of people are writing loose when they really mean lose. Here are the definitions of the two words from my Penguin dictionary:

loose [lOOs] adj not fastened or pre-packed; not tied up or confined; able to move freely; not tight, not firmly fixed; not close-fitting; careless, inaccurate, vague; dissolute, immoral; not closely woven; flabby; (of bowels) inclined to diarrhoea; l. box stable or van in which an animal can move about; at a l. end uncertain what to do next; unoccupied ~ loose adv in a loose way; play fast and l. behave rashly or unscupulously ~ loose n release; on the l. free from restraint; on a spree; ~ loose v/t untie, undo; release from confinement or constraint, set free; detatch; fire (gun); shoot (arrow); (eccles) absolve.

lose (p/t and p/part lost) [lOOz] v/t and i no longer have; be deprived of by accident or misfortune; mislay, fail to find; fail to get or win; be too late for; be bereaved of; waste; be defeated or beaten; suffer loss, become worse off; fail to hear, see or understand; cause or allow to perish; (of clock or watch) go too slowly; (refl) miss the right path; become absorbed in; l. one's head become flustered, panic; l. one's temper grow angry; l. one's way fail to find the right path; l. out (US) be defeated after a struggle.

Examples:

This knot is too loose.
Please do not lose my book.
I had better not lose that file.

One way to remember the difference between the two words is to think that "lose has lost an 'o'".

You can look it up here; http://www.ross.net/notes/loose.shtml

The Prime Minister said this morning that she isn't bothered by the constant media speculation and is getting on with the job of governing the nation. She said the caucus meeting later this week will discuss the first few parlimentary sittings of the next term and will not discuss leadership issues.

Funny how the last Prime Minister said exactly the same thing, just before he was the ex-Prime Minister ??

I'm not sure about Rudd. He won easily in 2007, campaigning really well but as PM I think he was more about show than action. He did the apology to Aborigines who were removed from their families and held that convention. He gave us all some money which was actually ours in the first place.

Rudd probably has a better chance of winning an election as PM than Gillard has. She lost her last bit of trustworthyness when she turned against the deal she made with Wilkie on the poker machines. Gillard has shown herself to be an opportunist and someone who really believes in something which she has not revealed. I think she is an idealist. As a result she believes the ends justify the means.

Poor old Julia. You can't blame her really. To get into the drivers seat she was forced to hop into bed with a whole lot of mongrels that she probably wouldn't normally talk to, and then everybody expects her to produce some thoroughbreds.
The fact is, half the policies she is trying to bring in now, such as pre-commitments on pokie machines, carbon tax, etc, were not what she would have done had labour won government in their own right. She can't say she's being bullied into it because she doesn't want people to know the country is actually being run by a handful of greens and independents.

Tony would have done exactly the same thing. In fact he did try to but his sincere promises did not sound as sincere as Julias. Specially since he had said that if he said something but it wasn't in a written statement then it couldn't be relied on. That's got to inspire confidence doesn't it?

And no, I'm not a labour supporter and I will be happy to see them out but I have to call it as it is.

The ONLY person talking up Rudd's return is Abbott. It's his latest tactic, create internal division and hope for a change. Why? Coz

a/ He's still not in power despite betting his left nut he would be by now

b/ The average aussie still hates his guts even if they hate Julia more (or same).

His short term strategy hasn't worked and he's beginning to flounder now - as in he can continue with more of the same and probably win, but he's still going to be elected very grudgingly, no one will actually be happy about it. Libs would be better to overthrow him and be done with it, now his job is done.

ie he's an attacker, not a leader.

I prefer the old school Labour.... and that's just the way that is. I've lived through lots of governments of both persuasions and if you want a government that has an agenda, drives it through the reps then bashes the senate then this is one of the best I've seen( apart from the Whitlam/Barnard hurricane). I don't know but, FFS haven't the conservative media been crapping on about "a leadership challenge: since about 1985. Come on ....bring it....... nothing, yeah, bull****!!

Yeah Floater, maybe I didn't make it clear. If Rudd is re elected as leader there are at least 2 Vicco reps that will resign...... So that means Labour will lose the numbers in the Reps, and a vote of no confidence will bring down the Gov. So Rudd has nowhere to go ...If he stands ,he's leader of the opposition. yeah?

No mate, I work for Labour. So I work for the party. The party is what is importasnt not so much the leaders. Leaders come and go, some are great(Whitlam,Keating) others are good (Hawke), some are nutters(Latham), some keep the seat warm(beazley), and some are just plain good people(Gillard). But One things for sure the Party is the important thing, and if you think that the likes of Abbott, Hockey and those others are better, then go for it............. yeah I didn't think so. This isn't the best Labour Government I've seen but it's a labour government , and a labour government that has made significant social changes to Aus.(Carers legislation).....anyone? So no, not fooled.
