Couple of days ago was on the bus to Tweed sitting at the back and a group of teenagers got on & out came the buds & the talk was about selling etc .. some of them would be 12 or 14 ....now I am for legalising but after seeing this I'm not so sure... what sort of future are these young guys setting themselves up when smoking at a young age & stil at school...?

But that's always going to happen no matter what

I wouldn't buy weed from a 12 or 14yr old, unless i was stretched.
I wouldn't sell weed to a 12 or 14yr old (I'd sell them oregano or something then laugh at them), neither would a legal dispensary

Smoked plenty 20 years ago and it became quite a habit for while. I really enjoyed it back then.... think I'm much better off without it now.

Looking back and in the bigger picture, I can't see anything fundamentally good from smoking it or legalising it.....

Interested in other people's thoughts.

Stoners don't king hit random strangers

There is a lot of good that can come from legalising or decriminalising it.
First of all is not getting a criminal record for something that causes no harm to others.
It should be a free world.
Let the people make up their own minds.

Aren't adults (i.e..parents) the ones to protect and educate the next generation?

Some time ago I spent some time working in a steel mill. A number of the operators would smoke weed at work and then eff up big time. Like the crane drivers in the 'soaking pits' crane. The pits were essentially huge furnaces used to heat up 16T steel ingots. The drivers would extend the mast of the crane down into the pit to grab the ingot then 'forget' to lift it up before driving the crane away, with the mast still in the pit it would bend the mast and break heaps of things. The stoned driver would then go and read stick books in an air conditioned smoko room while myself and others worked in stupidly hot conditions on top of the furnaces (with the door open cos the broken crane was jammed in the way).
These cranes had a pipe cleaning tool, covered in resin that was left in the cab for the next driver so they could unblock their pipe without leaving the cab.
There were many incidents. The management of the day was either unwilling or unable to stop drug use at work.
Even though I think the current laws are not working, the safety issues need attention and may need more attention if it becomes legal.

Schizophrenia is not fun for those who have it

I've had a love/hate relationship with the devil weed for most of my life. I was off it for 10 years then got back on it a few years ago. It was fun to take the boredom out of dull days and could put me in a productive mode but I look back on it and I got more done when sober. I was using it recently to counter the effects of chemotherapy for which it was somewhat effective but when doing it every day it becomes counter productive. THEN... it triggered some severe episodes of sadness bordering on anxiety attacks, SO... I'm off it now probably for a good long while, FOREVER? that's hard to say, it is definitely addictive.

This is something else we can blame on the Americans.

Let's be clear, the ditch weed people smoked as late as the 70's was nothing compared to the potent sensemilla's people are using now.

The majority of people are able to enjoy alcohol (not at work, in moderation) without becoming addicted or dangerous aggressive idiots.

It's the same with weed. For every couch-locked-Centrelink-dependent vacant waste of space there are many, many useful working people (some of them very successful, and possibly your doctor too) who like a smoke to take the edge off, as well as enhancing their appreciation of everything from nature to music to food to sex, and helping them to see The Joke and laugh.......

The families of those epileptic kids should be able to get their cannabis oil without the police (taking time off from supposedly making us safe from criminals) raiding their homes, charging them, and taking their children's proven effective medicine.
