For those who know the night sky and moon phases, can anybody explain what the large star like glow that positioned itself about midway in the shadow side of the moon tonight WA time, for about 15 minutes? Started at about 7.30pm and slowly began to fade out at around 7.45pm when it faded it was bright then went out within 90 seconds or so. It was like seeing through the moon at a star on other side.
If I didn't know better, I would say it was an impact on the moon surface remnant
And before anybody asks, no beer or wacky baccy involved

I seen it as well, and thought it was a bit odd! no idea of what it is but would like to find out too.

It was Jupiter. Or so I am told. Was amazing to see.

Just googled it, definitely Jupiter, they use a lot of fancy words so I lost interest in the explanation.

It looked pretty cool, looking directly at it they seemed to create the illusion they were both streaking across the sky. Or was that the home brew talking???

Yep that's what I thought??? I saw it and couldn't work it out. I figured it must've been a satellite. After last weeks astral misadventures I was watching it in earnest to see if it started getting rapidly larger.
Don't know where the hell I was going to run to though.

Moons, moons & more moons! Cool photos.

But not this many moons......

took the little one out last night to look at the moon for her bedtime ritual and thought oh that's cool .

I saw it too (although some beer was involved) and was wondering what it was. I took some photos with an average $200 camera.




On the small camera view finder it looked like the object was over the dark side of the moon. I was wondering what could possibly be that bright and located between the earth and the moon.
I took another photo of the excitement and walked back into the shed and grabbed another cold one. Good times...



Was thinking of the great view that the Aliens inside their brightly lit spaceship would have of Earth.




Before the next beer was finished the object faded away behind the darkside half of moon. Did a few google searches and discovered to my disappointment that it wasn't something Alien but a "lunar occultation of Jupiter".

Jupiter can just be seen faintly in the last photo before it disappeared.
