None of the kids that have cruised past so far have any tricks up their sleeve. It's pretty poor - thinking they can just turn up and get a hand out. Not on my watch. Give me something good if you want your treat.

Bloody poor efforts round these parts. Anyone seeing any different or is that just the society we are now dealing with?

Where are we again? Oh yeah, the USDU - the United State Down Under. Piss off with halloween, it doesn't belong here. Any wonder the kids don't have a clue how to go about it...

I had kids knocking on my door wanting lollies. I had none in the house so after the first lot went I put up this sign...

I believe you are required to provide either a trick or a treat. So feel free to scare the **** out of them. Then again I hear eggs are a reasonable response to no candy haha

Any halloween clowns will be beaten with a large stick and then sold to the circus.

It is great fun and NOT American.

Ancient Origins of Halloween. Halloween's origins date back to the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain (pronounced sow-in). The Celts, who lived 2,000 years ago in the area that is now Ireland, the United Kingdom and northern France, celebrated their new year on November 1.

Get over it fun police.

if they get dressed up happy to give them a treat.

Spot on. Our street is full of tackers.
Homemade costumes, getting to use some manners and finding out all strangers are not bad.
Displaying a sense of adventure and a bit of community spirit

When the next thread about kids and ipads and not leaving home etc, ,comes we know who will be the first in there critisising. The Sbreeze curmudgeons

Have to agree with that. We probably had 25+ kids come up and not one didn't say thank you and all were accompied by at least 1 adult. Harmless fun really.

Same here, we just had a 5? year old ballerina zombie at the door, with mum in matching tutu-thingy.

Little monsters [and their escorts] are welcome here

Yeah, I get the history. It's the day on the edge of autumn...sorry, fall, and winter. That puts it right out of our hemisphere for a start, if you want to be a total pedant. Are they asking for candy?

well........if you reeeaaaly want to be pedantic, we don't have 4 seasons here - we have 6

[its a Noongah thing that makes sense when you read it.]

I see no harm in rewarding kids for getting out from in front of I-thingies, and inventing costumes and going out into the real world.

Letting them lucky-dip from an esky full of mini-snickers/mars/milky ways and lunchbox size packs of chips, cheezels is all part of the fun.

Besides - if the monsters and zombies don't take the junk food - I have to eat the rubbish.

I was amazed by the pumpkins in the supermarkets. They are all of the same size, same look, and probably same weight as well. Must be magic or witch craft of some sort ?

Originally a Celtic pagen festival and nothing to do with anyones New Year. Google it guys....All Hallows Eve (shortened to Halloween).

Lots of fun for kids of all ages and who cares what the reason is, they certainly don't.

All you humbugs feel free to lock up your house, darken your windows and sit on couch with a beer and watch reruns of Breaking Bad while a great opportunity passes disappointedly past your door....

Had 150 kids past our door this year....the street was a sea of noisy happy monsters....

Wife heard a knock at the door, when she was about to open the sound of glass shattering outside.
When door opened kids were in shock face mode and mom apologizing for her husband dropping a stubby of beer right at my porch. . .

Kids were embarrassed by the father...didn't know if lollies would still be on offer after that.

Cool to give lollies to kids, but this shouldn't be a license for these idiot parents come drinking in your lawn and front door and even worse making a mess of it.

It's not American, it's not another consumer driven scheme ...you keep believing that. I assume you are a fan of valentines day as well.

Kids out on the street, yep that is good, but what's their motivation? To chock up on poisonous sugary lollies.

See the wood for the trees you naive fools.

Our kids have loved it and this was the first time in 15 years i didn't get to walk around, mind you the flu makes me look rather nasty, but we would have approx 80 kids door knock and id say being a Monday night that was well down by at least a third..

These days it so nice to see 15 and 16 year olds, even as high as late teens dressing up in costumes, walking around being social having a blast and not a drop of alcohol, no smoking or excessive language and generally just being social with their neighbourhood. Its even funnier seeing the interested boy friends having to join in..And the girls take note of who is making an effort.

Teddy my boy and his mates took silly string, and a stupid air horn that gave more than a few trick request's the sh-0s

One residence every year has a huge affair, have been on TV a few times with their fund raising efforts. This year they were a no show, or so the kids thought until their boy came out in his clown outfit and operating chain saw (No chain) well i wished i had seen my sons face..
