Some people say "Time is money." I say they have no idea. You can always make more money but you cannot make more time.

The first gift we get is LIFE. The second is the TIME we get to LIVE. (See the Career Changes thread.)

A mate works month on-month off. Month off he tries to make himself as bored as possible so that in his perception TIME passes slower. (He is single and 62 and make big bucks and has been a seaman since he was 16.)

When you are having great fun, TIME seems to flash past but when thinking back on it, it feels like it lasted a lot longer. Is that a TIME tunnel??

TIME is eternal and infinite. A human life span in comparison is not even a "blip".

Technology has given us many TIME saving devices so why are we not spending the greater amount of our TIME having fun instead of working??

TIME and TIDE waits for no man.

A song about TIME.

I think you have proved it does by using the word and referring to it or are you saying we live in "The Matrix"??

Time is relative. It drags out when doing stuff that is boring or just a waste of time. However it flies by when doing something that is relevant and enjoyable.

Even physicists say stuff along these lines, time is not constant and is relative to your position and motion.

In regards to human lifespan, yes 80 years or so is a blip in the big scale of time since whenever. However I really think humans are going to start living for much longer in the not too distant future through breakthroughs in new medicial science based cell therpapy and other innovations. Who knows, maybe there is someone alive today who might be alive in 500 years? It won't immortality as such but will be more of a case of the doctor telling an 80 year old there is a treatment that will give them the heart of a 60 year old. Then in another 20 years, telling the patient with the 60 year old heart there is a treatment to give them the heart of a 40 year old.
If this happens it will be the biggest change in human history. Suddenly we will have the time to do whatever we like, perhaps work hard and save money for 50 years, then have hundreds of years to enjoy it. Perhaps have two or three careers of 100 years each. Societies could become more conservative and less wasteful. Birth rates will probably plummet too as we realise there is no huge need to have children to continue our legacy or keep the gene pool going.

I have read that we "baby boomers" are potentially the first generation to have a shorter life span than our parents.

Quite right Doc.
Time is an illusion created in the mind. The past and future only exist in the mind.

good topic cisco . time to have a beer now i recon !

time also goes way faster as i get older , this last batch of time, now to death is going to fly!

this makes me enjoy all activities more .

" time flys when your having fun "

maybe this is a vicious circle , having to much fun time goes too fast ?

should we then do stuff that really annoys us in order to slow time down ?

ok ... first beer gone Time for another !
