This is an IR switch... and it works great! I have a couple of them under the TV stand that switch on/off bias lights and stuff.

Still haven't finished putting it together... Pitch Throttle curves, Expo, swash plate mixing 3G... wtf? May need to head to a forum for some advice, cos the manual of my Tx and the flybarless setup don't make sense in English.

Advice re heli:

don't even think about turning it on until you have flown a contra-rotating heli like a BladeCX for a couple of weeks - and flown it well.
At the same time, about 20hrs of reading online.


Trust me, proper helis like that are very, very hard.

The TV has banding, so the backlight isn't consistent... fairly common with side lit LED's.

I have a heli sim... Phoenix RC, not going to fly any time soon... I just want to set it up.
I had a large RC heli ~ 12years ago, cost ~$3500 and lasted 30 seconds before embedding itself in the ground.

Where's your junk??? Must have bought something! Carton? Bag?

Of course. Model planes, model gliders, model helis, model cars,..

Lots cheaper than real ones.
I can buy a model heli for the same price that it costs to fill up my plane.
The difference is that the plane will fly for 6 hours on that and go a thousand kilometres, whereas I usually crash the model heli within an hour in the same place it took off. so I'm not sure which is better value.

Its a Baja racer, 26 cc two stroke engine, weighs about 12kg I think and goes about 60km/hr or more, which is a problem because my brain only goes 50km/hr.
It has adjustable suspension and shockers all round, disc brakes, and comes with a 2.4Gig RC controller with a range of about 200 metres, but I can't see what it's doing at that range so I keep it within about 75 metres.

The biggest problem is that it doesn't have a reverse gear.
It also comes with some very pretty race car cowlings but I had them off here because I was using it on the gravel airstrip and the gravel it throws up from the front wheels hits hard enough to damage the plastic covers.

I've bought a few other things too but none of them stupid. All highly sensible purchases as you would expect from a refined elderly gentleman.

remember not to put the TV boxes on the curb for rubbish pickup, its a good advertisement for being burgled

So what is the difference between a remote controlled car and one with the driver on board? Was watching formula one for a bit last night. A good RC system with a good driver in pit lane should lap just as quickly?

You could put a crash test dummy in the cockpit. If you "kill" the dummy you'd lose all points for the season.

When I was young and silly I had a number of 'real ones' which were loads of fun. Up to about 40 years ago there were no regulations restricting their use and you could use them pretty much on any vacant crown land.
Now you can't use them anywhere except for some very small designated areas so they are too much trouble.
Now I'm old and still silly I tend to play around more with the model stuff, which is still highly restricted but since you can load up and disappear in two minutes then they are more useable.

They come just about ready to go out of the box. Just lock the receiver to the transmitter code, fill up with two stroke fuel (30:1), charge the receiver battery and it's ready to go.
It comes with a few options such as fairings and a rear spoiler which you can clip on if you want, but I don't want so it's not on here.
It looks real sweet with all it's fairings on, which is what sold me on it.

You also need to glue flymesh over the engine cooling intakes because otherwise, at the speed it goes it sucks in a whole lot of leaves and rubbish and ends up overheating in about 20 minutes of flogging around the paddocks. I just stuck it on with silastic.
It's made in China like most stuff these days so the tollerances in the steering components and wheels are a bit sloppy which I thought would make it hard to control at speed but it doesn't seem to affect it much. I think that might be because it's airborne half the time
It's a lot bigger than it looks in this photo. You get a better idea of it's size when it's sitting on the car roof.

You can import them direct from china for about $400 to $500 but I got mine locally for about double that. Support local business and all that.
Also I wouldn't have bought it if I didn't see it in his shop and have a good look at it first so they deserve to get the sale.

I think it will go great on the sand dunes around Wedge Island but I haven't tried it there yet.

Finally upgraded from a CRT. The picture is awesome from directly in front of the screen. Seriously like "wow!"...

... but move one seat to the side and it's pretty fn average. Disappointed actually. Thankfully picked up cheap as probably last one in country.

Unreal in the store. CNET's TV of last year. Wish I'd gone plasma.
