Some images may be disturbing... not impressed. How would you like this at your local windsurfing /kitesurfing..Just a highlight from another topic for all to see cisco got it right....
So you tell me. Was it deliberate?? Was it economic short cutting of accepted proceedure that compromised safety??
Im sure the bill for this clean up will be passed on to consumers like you and me ;-([}:)][}:)][}:)]
http://www.bp.com/onefeedsection.do?categoryId=152&contentId=2002499 ?????????? More important to look after share holders than animals.
Apparently the drillers contracted by BP did cut corners. The cost of drilling was around a million dollars a day so they did things like not letting concrete set and dry so the drilling could be done quicker. So once the oil pressure built up there was nothing to stop a blow out.
BP is forcing people hired for their clean up crews to sign non disclosure agreements. So clearly the company isn't interested in letting the public know whats going on. We don't hear anything about the people who died in the incident either.
yep, though I suspect offshore drilling will now be subject to the same standards as nuclear power - all good in my mind, because solar, tide and wind get cheaper relatively..
Did anyone see the gruen transfer when they had the s**** advertisement for BP featuring an environmentalist who thanked BP for illustrating how bad oil was?
Hempseed oil is pressed from the seed of the hemp (cannabis) plant irrespective of the strain of cannabis. Cold pressed, unrefined hemp oil is dark to clear light green in color, with a pleasant nutty flavor. The darker the color, the grassier the flavour.
Refined hempseed oil is clear and colorless, with little flavour and lacks natural vitamins and antioxidants. Refined hempseed oil is primarily used in body care products. Industrial hempseed oil is used in lubricants, paints, inks, fuel, and plastics. Hempseed oil has found some limited use in the production of soaps, shampoos and detergents. The oil is of high nutritional value because its 3:1 ratio of omega-6 to omega-3 essential fatty acids, which matches the balance required by the human body.[1] It has also received attention in recent years as a possible feedstock for the large-scale production of biodiesel.[2] There are a number of organisations that promote the production and use of hempseed oil.[3]
Could say almost exactly the same thing about palm oil.
And Palm Oil is a great environmental and commercial alternative to crude.
Argh bollocks - no it is not, palm oil crops are destroying jungles and destroying communities and destroying cultures.
Maybe the utopian dream needs to be built soley on organic papaya, or maybe soley on something that cannot be exploited for commercial gain no matter what. Which is ... nothing (except nothing could have a value in the future given what is currently tradable in the world).
If your lucky the exploration in marine parks off Margaret river in WA and Kangaroo Island IN SA will find deep sea oil and we too can have our own international oil spill story during the 100 year storm -and also have some graphic images of seals dying at seal beach and brown foamy waves at Cape De Coudic.
windsurfing / surf industries are huge oil users for epoxies, sail film and mast materials so maybe we can't complain just cross our fingers and hope it doesn't happen here - back to hand carved wooden boards and calico sails for 2012 - now that would be seriously retro
