First mobile



What i use now



I had one of those Nokia communicators, sold it on to my mum. Think she still has it somewhere..

One day i might buy a smart phone, maybe...

Before that the boss told us we just had to use the cheap ones........... we asked what???????? said yes, the ones with the orange tops that are scatered all along the roads!

Got this piccy off the net of this early 80's gem... the work supplied one I used had a painted red metal base where the battery went not black plastic, standby if you left it on was about 3 hours, talk time almost 20 minutes on a cold Melbourne day if you were lucky. Weighed about 5kgs.

+1 - so much cooler than the brick phone!

Until of course you put the fat batter on it as the thin one was useless...

Mine was way cooler than that. It was a brick phone but a Mitsubishi Delegate. (Can't find a pic.) It cost me $2,000 at the time but I got reception and transmission 30 miles out to sea.

Analogue was great and I don't think even today digital will give you that kind of range.
