Mobydisc said... Sharks may be misinterpreted but big sharks like great whites, tigers and bull sharks are top predators. The way I see going out in the water where there are sharks around is a bit like going out for a walk in the jungle full of tigers. There is a chance one of them will be hungry and will eat you if it gets the chance.
However thats my choice.
Sharks are not all that cute and cudly as a kayaker in Victoria found out.

Btw, the 'incident' mentioned in the above news story happened about 300m from where I'm sitting now! I know Rhys (the kayaker), I wouldn't have traded spots with him for any amount of money! We were down sailing off that beach last weekend in marginal conditions, I spent most of the session in the water, or slogging!

I've seen a couple of big (5-5.5m) great whites off there over the years, and apart from them attacking our baits when we're fishing, and one ripping my s/steel berley bucket off my boat, that's the first 'incident' that has ever been news-worthy, or life threatening...I'm kinda glad there's no wind this weekend, besides busy helping out my kid's school with a local marathon (I'll give the shark a couple of days to move on

).
