Wow that looks great!

Quad or Hex? Which flight controller? I take it it's a GoPro on a gimbal, is it brushless? What size props? Runtime on which battery?

(yeah I'm getting addicted too)

I have no idea about any of this but it gives a great view. Is there a way you can see the footage in real time, or is that way out of the question/budget.

Hobbyking has some awesome gear. But if you have a good setup I would leave the Turnigy 9x alone(this is not so much for you nebbian). Especially for beginner to intermediate flyers who have a variety of planes-heli's-ect. Just about any other radio gear is better and offer alot of BNF (bind and fly ) style toys. Spectrum, Hitec, Jr is where I would put my money.

Have to agree on the Hobby king call - good for a first craft intro - or getting some intitial stick time - although i have seen some of their offerings that simply dont fly out of the box- making them a false economy.

I was at the park a few years ago flying my pricey super high performance light weight Precision Aerobatics aircraft (A Ultimate AMR) when a guy wandered over with his new radio and plane set up from Hobby king. He spent 10 minutes telling me what great value it was etc etc

then it came time to fly - plane would just pull hard left and dive in to the ground after lift off. After 4 of these efforts the guy asked me to inspect it. All control surfaces were trimmed - so i tried (i can fly 3d styleso i have stick skills) - gave it full aieleron to combat the roll - and still not good. The guy tried a few more times and then left with plane in 2 pieces. I wasnt too sure about his value for money at that point...

Morally i have a problem with their operation as they often clone other legitimate quality manufacturers hard work (- even using similar names for models ) and r and d efforts. Often with misleading weights and underperforming batteries and motors.

However a good intro to rc flight is their Bixler aircraft.
Apart from that the product range can be a real minefield.

As soon as you have skills and are putting cameras into the air though - look to the high end manufacturers DJI, Multiwii and Futaba radios (a step above Spectrum etc etc) - a large part of the investment in this is time over and above dollars - lots of time! to get good results

On the windsurfer shooting side - as always its just about the most difficult scenario - a much bigger investment in larger heavier flying machines would be required to shoot in decent wind- think around the 10g mark - (or around 10 hours of helicopter hire time!)- with all the terror and risk of having that set up airborne over water....
