Hi.

Can anyone please enlighten me on the limitations of class A & B blocks of land on the Gold Coast?

Could type A be approved for subdivision, particularly if it is over 1000 square meters? Personally it irks me that land is becoming so small so dividing it would be a last resort, but just interested to know.

Cheers :)

Do you not trust asking the council about that??

No. That's why it is Res A.

There are swathes of areas now that are marked as Res B, like Runaway Bay and Paradise point. That's why whenever an old house comes down there a duplex goes up in its place.

That's not to say you couldn't apply for a rezone.

Fark evl my mother lived in Paradise point when I moved out to go to uni. Driving my Ford Escort up there to visit/stay/dump washing etc.

There was sovereign island and there was the bridge to nowhere, where the developer built a great bridge to a little sand island then went broke.

Went back the other day for a look - now that little sand island is all 4 story apartments in the middle of the broady!! Plus the end vacant land is all buildings. Plus the dodgy little shops are all trendy cafes with street seating.

Talk about major change from the sleepy little corner it used to be.

The wise man builds his house upon the rocks, the fool on the sands.

It is the same on the Sunny Coast. Kawana is built on reclaimed swamp.

Obviously nobody on the Gold or Sunny Coasts are worried about global warming and rising sea levels.

Thanks. Had been trying to get info from council. Yes it's a 1160 sqm runaway bay property too but was getting conflicting info about zoning

Res A is generally a single dwelling site, but if the GC Plan is like the SC then it is a performance based criteria depending on size and other factors.
Talk to your local town planner about it. Generally they are happy to have a chat to you about it for free.
Cheers
