Can anyone suggest some good prescription sunglasses for land use. I prefer a style that the arm covers all light from the side. (Wrap around, like the bikies wear) Currently have these oakleys gascan that an Australian optometrist fitted with lenseshttp://www.oakley.com/products/2222/27939
Problem was the lens didn't fit that well and curvature of the frame was an issue. I have an Australian and USA address, so can buy in either continent. Oakleys are close to $400 with factory fitted lenses in USA. Can buy frame for $100, it's the lenses that cost $270 up. Have Oz health cover to claim back here, but find the frames they offer are mainly flat and offer as much protection as a set of 'Lennon' style glasses. Deals they offer always seem to have the garbage frames with no style, and the frames are ridiculously priced when you choose something half decent. The insurance companies seem to be 'in bed' with the major optometry glass suppliers? I've bought online before and my insurance would not pay back a cent, because it wasn't one of their approved suppliers.
Btw Have myopia (short sighted), laser surgery has been ruled out. Cheers for any suggestions. 
I hear yr pain.....presently in Sri Lanka on holiday and have purchased 2 new pairs of Ray bans....one as normal glasses n one as prescription sunglasses. Absolute bargain. Check out Vision Care Sri Lanka.....very good service and great pricing - they have 25% off sunglasses frames until the end of the month. Mine cost me approx. $220 AUD each all up. My girlfriend and her friend also brought a pair each. I am not sure if they take overseas orders but I would definitely recommend them.
ive had prescription makos and spotters in the past - both faily good wraps. try a different optomotrist store. they use different suppliers and some seem to me to find it harder than the others. sometimes the sunglass shops know also
OPSM are usually pretty good when I get mine...they have a good range and you can claim it back...I use Silverfish in teh wtaer and will probably get some more when my Oakleys crap out.....they have been going strong for 6 years
I have a couple of pairs of prescription sunnies. I have sea specs (under $300 delivered) which I use for kiting and I have Oakley CrossLink???s (they have different colours, mine are blue) for everyday use which actually look good as normally sunnies. They are not wrap around but they are large enough to give you decent coverage.
The curved lenses always have an issue with prescriptions depending on what your prescription is. I am short sighted in one eye and long sighted in the other with astigmatism in both eyes so curvature has always been an issue.
The issue I realised is that if you want decent prescription sunnies, most of the time you are stuck with a brand like Oakley. The up side with that is that the warranty is impeccable and there is global support if you have any issues while travelling.

I'm -4 and -5 so I can't wear any curved shades, tried on a pair of Oakley Crosslink Switches fit pretty well www.oakley.com/en-au and don't have a huge open side area.

You may or may not like these, but for under $35 including delivery, worth considering. Even if you end up not liking them so much, they might make a good 2nd pair to leave laying around.

I buy all my family's glasses here and have saved about two grand in the last couple of years. The last pair I ordered on a Monday, and they were delivered to my house on Friday the same week!
My father has a complicated prescription, and his glasses cost around $700 locally (why that is I don't know, surely it's just calculated by a computer and ground by a machine?). I recently got him a pair here for $90, and he says they are better than any pair he has had.

I don't see the difference on the nose bit other than being able to switch between normal prescription and sunglass prescription?

The plastic from the frame on the switch sat on my nose the nose piece on the cross felt more like a traditional set of glasses to me.
