You just beaten me to it, Elmo I found that quite amusing if not almost deadly.

Now she will have a few things to mull over while lying in hospital. For a start, the cops are keen to talk to her. Would she now become the reversal of her former self, ie. a gun nut? I doubt it.

Remember late last year when a child shot his own parent at a gun range? Start them young ?

As an aside...I wanted to get an air rifle to have a crack at the few feral cats hanging around my semi-rural block. The amount of efforts and the hoops I need to jump through, and it will take 3 months and at least $1,000 outlay, I gave up the idea. Am I being unhappy about it? Yes. On the other hand, it is good that we have more controls over lethal weapons.

At least they'll be well armed for when the Mexicans start climbing over the wall to invade.

Stupid laws.
An aside like Jupiters. After my dad passed away I found my old air rifle (slug gun) in a cupboard. I rang the local cop shop and asked if they could collect.
I was told "Just bring it in and we will destroy it for you"
I calmy asked what the police would do if they spotted a bloke walking into a police station carrying what could be seen as a rifle.
The guy on the phone paused and then said "Ill get some general duties officers to collect it from you". They did the next day.

I bet she wished she was carrying another gun she could turn on him so she could protect herself from him.

Gotta have more guns, cos its safer right?

Absolutely. Especially criminal's who have enjoyed safer working conditions since the 1996 gun reforms.

Reminds me of walking into South Perth cop shop with my pump action shotgun during the buy back. I few were diving under desks ha ha. Helped as I was in my motor bike leather jacket and had a helmet in the other hand.

What a silly remark. It is terrible that a 4y/o shot anyone, and even more so that his mum thought a 4y/o could be taught to shoot.
But a kid shooting mum has no logical bearing upon the use of guns (or not) for protection in the USA. Cos a 4y/o should not have one. Much like a 10 y/o crashing a car should not impinge upon the ability of adults to have one.
If my 10 y/o drives my car I AM the retard, not anyone else.
You are confusing access to guns in general, with 'should they have ability to buy one for protection'. Very different issues.

And the fact the Yanks have ability to buy guns for personal protection has diddly-squat to do with anything here in Australia.

If you are trying to be funny (I hope not cos nobody would make remarks like that about a lady getting run over, raped or bashed) then you'd do well to realise your country has way more lax gun laws than Australia.

That is exactly the kind of excuses / argument the gun lobby in USA used so often to justify the over abundance of firearms in USA. The logic being if you have a gun on you, you can shoot straight back

I failed to comprehend why she wanted to teach a 4 year old how to shoot a real gun. Is she trying to make a Rambo out of him ?

Guns dont kill people, people kill people. lol Stupid thing that gun loving rednecks say.

But some people think that some people should be aloud to have guns so they can protect some people they love,
but then some people go crazy and kill some people with their gun, usually some of those people killed are the some people they loved and wanted to protect.

Some people are stupid if they think some people should be aloud to have guns.

That's what some people I know think anyway.

Some interesting perspectives from the gun community and shows how incident like this have a logical bearing upon the use of guns for protection in the USA.
It also has relevance to anyone who carries a sidearm

^^^ Wow, that is what even gun all owners have said. Great contribution, Ian.

It does not "have relevance to anyone who carries a sidearm" as a kid can't get the gun when holstered and any half smart person does not allow kids access.

The simple version for you :
(1) this lady was dumb
(2) it does not have any bearing upon gun ownership any more than we should ban pools cos sometimes poor supervision or security leads to a toddler drowning.

/end thread.

All footy / baseball mums have a kid with low scoring rates. Not many have "I smoked the target with lead".
