I saw that the other day! Pretty epic video. Lots of trust on the navigation system! Love it just as they dip beneath the clouds whilst pointing straight towards the mountain.
God damn, should have been a pilot! Bit late to contemplate now approaching 40 with two kids and a fat mortgage.
I'm not sure but that was a very fast approach to the runway? was the footage speed up just before touch down?
There also didn't appear to be any flare prior to touchdown. ???
They just seemd top fly it straight onto the runway. ?
Ya gotta love a good ILS approach though.
With VFR you would have to dive through that small hole in the clouds early in the vid and grub along to the airport underneath the cloud base. ![]()
Except this is a RNAV Pweedas. Im not even sure that you could 'curve' an ILS.
The Fokker 100 (I dont think there are any in NZ though) land reasonably flat and most other jet aircraft (of that size) fly with a nose high attitude anyway. The perspective from inside and especially through a camera, would not show a big attitude change. Maybe a degree or 2.
