Myth #1: Mobile phones casue gas explosions.

Why am I allowed to take my mobile phone on a plane when I could cause the plane to crash if I turn it on while taking off or landing, or I could cause an explosion if I turn it on while walking across the tarmac? Surely they should be completely banned from planes, if this is the case?

...yet I can't take on my nail clippers.

(I'm tired of pointing out the obvious to people in petrol stations and airplanes. Think people, think.)

Imagine how sharp you could get you nails with those clippers though. You could cause some serious damage to flight crew, and take over the plane. They'd never see it coming, as you had regular blunt nails when first getting on plane.
Think safety

It is a conspiracy. The phone companies can't track your calls when made from a plane
Sorry, forgot.

Flying into Dubai earlier this year, on final approach almost everyone on the plane with a towel on thier head was talking on the mobile phone.
Plane didn't crash on landing but perhaps they were saying goodbye to thier loved ones just in case.

The "no conspiracies in the forum" thing is a conspiracy to silence you Doc.

Have noticed your posts are getting waaaay shorter, if a little repetitive

I think paragliding, hang gliding, gliding and flying in general are permitted due to the effect the wind has on the enjoyment of the pastime.

(but I did laugh again)

If you think there are restrictions at airports you ain't seen nothing yet. These are already in place in some airports in the US.

It is outside the rules of this website to discuss the reasons for their proliferation.

Anyone else notice the top scanner has a brand on it?

Anyway back on topic, I thought a myth was a female moth.

I reckon it would be a really good thing if they had these suckers in every spot possible, RTA, all government departments, schools. The more they make the cheaper they would be. Then you could have one at your front door, local pool, cinemas - let your imagination fly.

We would be so safe then we would live to 180.

On topic, ie myths or female moths, the reasons they come up with these rules is blindingly obvious, but likewise it is beyond the rules of the forum to discuss the subject.

Got a short session on the water this arvo. It was nice. If anyone wants more detail nice will have to do.

I have a feeling they may be photoshopped although I do not think Jesus was on the image I copied. We might have to leave that where it is.

Whatever the reason, phones should be banned on flights - people who talk in crowded spaces on their phones are twats and they will only stop if they're banned.

Filling up with fuel is probably the most hazardous thing most people do... given how badly people drive when they're on the phone... it's probably better if people concentrate here too...

Looking at the evidence (CCTV etc) the petrol station fires are virtually all caused by:
(1) they are overseas where u can leave the handle locked on and walk away - which means you and the pump handle no longer have a common earth but fuel is flowing
(2) then the person goes to the car to retrieve something - this is usually women as they get the handbag / purse from passenger seat - fellas don't as their wallet is in their pocket
(3) person returns to pump and as they reach for handle, static spark = boom.

Mobile phones have nothing to do with it. Think about it logically, people work every miunte of every day in explosive environments with a mobile in their pocket. Gas fitters working on your house. Spraypainters in a booth full of evaporated solvent.
When was the last time you heard a scare campaign about tradies with mobiles wrecking havoc upon suburbia and causing explosions?
Nup.

Woah, who'd have thought Jesus was a crow's supporter. No wonder he was crucified.

(I'm going to hell although you're probably heading there as well for putting him in that guernsey Collin[}:)])

There is definitely some sort of conspiracy going on here.

The top one has Henry Kissinger perving on the kids and a transgender Dick Cheney in the second one and there is nothing remotely connected to water sports.

Come on japie mate, "rules is rules".
