I'm about to watch "Eat Drink Man Woman" (again).
OK, not must see, but 4/5

I didn't see Clockwork Orange (yes really) until just recently so I'll add that, and recommend the former.

For science buffs I cannot recommend Primer enough. You'll need to watch at least twice, best time travel movie ever.

I know its not a movie..But it ends with one ..Firefly Serenity.I'm about halfway through the series and loving it.Top Sci-Fi.Top chicks in it.

Deadwood is another must see (and if you watch it all at once it's like a very long movie)

Crank is a must see. Very fast and non stop action.
Also liked Welcome To The Jungle and Walking Tall with The Rock.
Lords Of Dogtown. Big Wednesday.
Shark Tale is another must see. Heaps funny and I just love Ernie and Bernie

Agree with Greenroom "Crank" is brilliant. Also love "Crash" for a look on life and the modern classic "Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels"

A couple of semi-arthouse movies I love - "Delicatesen" and "The cook, the thief, his wife and her lover".

'Death Proof'.. Cars, girls, crazy driving stunts, and gratuitous (but believable, and in some cases completely deserved) violence.

Could only be Quentin Tarantino!

'The Art of War' was quite good too..

For lots of violence: A Man Apart (which just happens to be on tonight)

For a cult classic: Rambo. Started a whole lot of things copycat wise
Alternatively, Terminator. Very very good for it's time and still watchable today 24 years later. Yes it has been 24 years!

Cop flick that started them all: Dirty Harry. (I only watched it for the first time a few months ago and recognised so many ripoffs in new movies like die hard terminator etc etc. It seems Dity Harry was the originator)
Good flick anyway.

Ripper effects: chase scene in last Matrix film or Terminator 3 chase scene

Best porno: Aah they're all OK.

GREAT choice Richie!

I'll add 'Dead Poets Society'.... If I add 'To Sir with Love' and 'Mr Hollands Opus' I think you will all think I'm crazy.... Great nonetheless!

Oh my Liz....... too many tweed jackets and bloody boredom there. I can see where you are coming from they're all teacher things etc.
How about teacher movies with a bit of action, like The Substitute or even better, 187.

Teacher kills errant little sh!ts who deserve it. Awesome. 187 is better cos he tortures a couple of them first.

Some good films there. I did think There will be blood was a little over-rated and it seemed to lose it's way towards the end. No country for old men - awesome.

The quiet American

Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind

Raising Arizona

Finally saw Juno on the weekend - very good and as good as the hype for a change.

Ha ha - I saw Natural Born Killers and Clockwork Orange both for the 1st time on a double billing years ago... Clockwork was 2nd and it seemed more like a comedy after Killers. Must have been shocking in it's day but a bit naff and a bit "We all dropped some tabs and thought of a great idea for the rape scene..."

Not kn wrong. The Cohen Bros are in a league of the own and make most filmakers look formulaic (er spullin?) boring and lazy.

No country was just too good. Starts with mega violence, but the film gets more and more tense, even though the visual violence gets less as the film progresses. That is outstandeing filmaking and more filmakers should take note of the Cohen's methods... or just make another cr@polla 're-imagining' (read: worse than the original but more SFX this time) of a stock standard 90 minute stupifier...

Javier Bardem is a real talent too..(check out The Sea Inside - awesome preformance) He makes Deniro look like the once great but now lazy goofnall he has become.

Hey - also check out Jamon Jamon, Javier is good but Penelope Cruz get her puppies out every other scene too!! Ha ha - it can't always be about the pacing, dialogue and lighting!!

The Departed - with Leonardo and Matt Damon - thought that was brilliant.

didnt mind Blood Diamond also

Apocalypto from Mel Gibson was a visual feast and not too bad a story.

Yeah Jim Carey was suprisingly good as a straight actor in Eternal... shame some of his recent movies have been pretty average.

all of the films aforementioned are o.k., but none can mach the cinematic mastery, drama and the performances of woody harrelson and bill murry in the EPIC
