Bit like Trainspotting - inexplicably popular and I put it down to maybe the fact the world is so drenched with American movies that now and then it is trendy to like pommie ones, then trendy to like aussie ones etc etc. LockStock came along at about the right time.
Love it. Great characters, witty dialogue, brilliantly shot. What more could you ask for?
It's dedicated to the Guv'nor, "Dirty lenny McLean", a true hard man from another era, who died shortly after filming. I'll never forget a quote from him talking about his bare knuckles career... "I'm retired now, but if anyone's stupid enough to challenge me, I'll bite his fu@k!ng nose off". If you wanna see something really scarie... watch the u tube footage of him fighting Gypsy Bradshaw.
Lock Stock is a fantastic film, one of my all time faves. Everything Guy Ritchie touches (outside of the Madonna period) turns to gold.
Lock Stock, snatch, revolver and the rocknrolla are all quality! Even his take Sherlock Homes makes great viewing!
Ritchie also did an 8 part mini-series called lock stock that was on the BBC. It's based on the same four characters that appear in the film. You'll probably be able to track it down on eBay UK
Used to watch Vinnie playing for Wimbledon FC back in the 80's(avg footballer) but hard as anything, basically plays himself, brilliant movie. I reckon ive seen it 5 times and not tired of yet.
