Why are there so many devastating house fires caused by charging e-bikes and e-scooters?
Who is the go-to lithium battery charger expert on Seabreeze?

Seems once they burn they like to suprise you and burn again.
Temu
I was wondering about that. Is it just the cheap crap.
Is the cheap stuff 87.2% more likely to burn down your home than a known brand manufactured in China by the same company using a more expensive brand name?
How do you know, what's a safe brand and what isn't and why?
From what I read, sometimes the battery gets hot and then a chemical reaction has started. I heard someone discovered that and put battery in fridge but it blew up their house. I then read if the battery gets hot, you should chuck it in the pool or somewhere far away. Idk, lots of hysteria about it.
But, in saying that there is some truth in lithium batteries exploding as firefighters are saying it's an issue.
Seabreeze brains trust. Help me understand the danger.
Crapntalk will have the answers.
Carantoc is excellent at getting at the truth. That's what's needed here.
How dare you make fun of our resident pedant! (Greta Thunberg voice)
Crapntalk will have the answers.
Who is this Crapntalk you speak of? I know of a Crack-and-talk that frequents this place. He is a knowledgable guy.
I think he is clearly the expert on lithium as if he doesn't know about it, no one can. He can delegate too if he is too busy.
He will be able to tell us all that there are no fires with lithium, that lithium doesn't even exist, that lithium is not the correct spelling, and that even though the media tells us that there are lithium fires, it is all a big conn involving big-firema. You may be an expert chemist with lithium and have worked in a lithium mine, lithium processing plant, lithium exporter, lithium battery manufacturer, and even a lithium EV maker, but you won't know as much.
He will have a challenge though as he will then need to argue with the SME about lithium and if its meant to be him he won't know which way to whine.
Personal grievences with other valuable forum contributors aside. I have another confession to make.
I saw an ebike in Aldi and thought $300 ain't bad, but don't have a swmming pool to chuck battery in if it gets hot..
I DONT WANT TO CHARGE IT AND FIND MY HOUSE HAS BLOWN UP!
I'm just looking for answers, not more questions.
Are you stupid or something? Throwing it in a pool just stops the fire. The battery is stuffed. What do you care if it keeps burning or not?
Just throw it into the road like everyone else. It even has wheels so that you can strap your budget 25-in-1 tool to it and get the whole road lit up.
I don't follow when you mention 'valuable' and 'contributors'. We were talking about Carantake if you didn't realise.
Cant tell if you guys are serious or not but ive built my own batterys
Its way cheaper to just buy the cells on ebay and buy a bms and do it all yourself.
The reason why theyre blowing up is because people are useing them very very hard and fast in the ebikes etc completely depleteing them then peddleing etc once depleted then throwing them on charge overnight straight after having depleted them
If you want to know anything about batterys theres only one man to see and thats will prowse. Ill find his page hang on
Tldr dont put hot / just depleted batterys straight onto charge.
LifePo batteries are going to be safer. They don't seem to suffer thermal runaway unlike normal 'lithium'.
Any decent chinese scooter will not use LifePo4. Why would they spend that extra couple of dollars. Fire is just an end-user problem ![]()
But hey, what would I know compared to Carantoc? (WWIKC2C?)
I replaced my motorbike's battery with a lithium one. Its so much better in that it doesn't self-discharge as much as lead acid. Instead of leaving a battery maintenance charger connected, I can just start the bike straight up after sitting unused for months. Self-discharge is so low it takes very little time to top up the battery even if you try to charge it.
I am using Jaycar Lithium replacement 'SLA' batteries. Again they are LifePo4, so pretty safe compared to the old type of lithium battery.

China phasing them out but sell them to us.
You should see all the wepons and bull**** china sells in suburbs in prague that they want to buy cheaper realestate in then once they get what they want they get rid of the drug alcohol and wepon stores
Pricks really

I would have thought a half decent charger using profile charging would solve that problem ?. But yes, don't do dumb sh!t ![]()
Apart from my fridge and A/C, I do not leave anything powered on when I sleep. I've looked inside/fixed a lot of Chinese sh!t. That paranoia is totally warranted.
ha-ha- de -ha ha. You'se guys can prattle on all you want, taking the piss out of Carantoc and getting all technical about lithogram batteries or whatever...
but seriously now, are you not concerned that the angiotensin converting enzyme cleaves the C-terminal dipeptide of various oligopeptides, including bradykinin and angiotensin I. It can be regarded as either the enzyme kininase II, due to its action on bradykinin degradation, thereby increasing vasodilation, or as angiotensin I-converting enzyme, due to its inhibition of the conversion of angiotensin I into the vasoconstricting octapeptide angiotensin II?

I like where you've gone with this, C'toc.
Here's something we've all suspected about aspartame for quite some time but nobody bothered to provide proof until now.
For those who don't read the article it says diet drinks increase your risk of heart attack and stroke.

I saw that in the mainstream media too.
Sometimes I wonder about these studies and if they separate different factors. For example, how do you separate certain lifestyle factors from consumption of a decent level of diet softdrink? Are the people drinking the diet drinks also exercising and have a relatively healthy lifestyle?
Are they comparing someone drinking diet drinks with someone that is drinking the sugared version? Even I would have to admit that significant consumption of softdrink is more likely to be attributed to a person that doesn't have the healthiest lifestyle.
The fast food places defaulted to pepsi max / coke zero to keep the meals total kilojules and calories down once they had to start advertising the kj amount on the menus mystery solved it was the triple whoppers and fries all along
(Actually it wasnt it was just the people eating fastfood are already so far gone they have been ?iving in stroke city for 20 years)
So why arent these beasts of burdens mobility scooters been blowing up all these years?? Is it because they were old ass golf cart agm batts ?

Yes, very good point. All the young methamphetameme Bevans ripping around Elizabeth burbs on these mobility gophers since I can remember. I bet they don't follow safety instructions. I bet they can't read either.
Old mate heres probably more seabreezes speed a bit of meandering but entertaining and older plus a little bit aussie for yas
