Wow. Perspective, Scots
Seagulls swooping and 7 people got a scratches or once even a cut on the head....

Come to Oz where magpies do that to everyone, and then it moves up from there to killer snakes, octupus, killer jellyfish and even drop bears.

Harden up.

Be careful going the Bird Bash Marky. It could cost you $48000.

I think the problem started by people feeding the gulls, They no longer want to hunt for fish, they feel entitled to chips, and attack anybody that doesn't offer up their bag.

I remember when I was a kid, my Auntie entrusted me with guarding her freshly bought pie over at Rottnest whilst she ducked into the general store.

I turned away for literally 5 seconds, when I looked back I was greeted with the sight of four seagulls flying off with the pie. I figure it was something of a collaborative effort initially. I'm sure there was a squabble afterwards.

I had lunch at a rooftop bar in Laguna Beach, the bloke next to me was enjoying the expensive fish dish, and then he wasn't.

I doubt this is the way it happened. Seagulls appear to have excellent vision and can spot things from a long way away. Why fish when you can hang around human habitats and pick up plenty of scraps from the local tip? You don't even need to get wet and there is food for everyone.

In NSW I am sure I saw many more seagulls at the tip than ever on the ocean.

Now the bin chickens have moved into my area and I am sure no one has coaxed them here. They just seem to have figured out its a good place even in winter.
