Perhaps these stilts evolved out of artificial limbs for leg amputees competing in running events in the para olympics? Wasn't there a para olympian with two artificial legs who wants to compete in the olympics but isn't allowed to?
Yes. They work on the same principle except the ones for amputees are not nearly as as springy.
The more springy they are then the greater advantage you would have over the other competitors.
These actually look better because the rotational force of the leaf spring is not transmitted to your leg because of the clever hinge mechanisms.
They look like great fun but I'm sure i would break a leg.
