Apparently all the young lads are afraid of people getting excited at the sight of their bulging groins.
More likely it's the self-conciousness of youth. Of course everybody has nothing better to do than look at them.
Wakeboarders are big on wearing street clothes when riding. I guess it makes them look super cool because they're so good they never fall in.
On a practical side, when kiting first started people would ride in wakeboard bindings and kites were not stable. Guys would put the boots on sitting down and butt-scuttle into the water.
