Anyone had any experience with these? Particularly the V200 dual cab? Im seeing a lot around and i believe Rio are buying them now?

Been looking at a 4wd ute sometime in the near future but people are asking crack prices for 2nd hand high km hiluxs / navaras / rangers etc. Top of the range GW is $25k drive away. Sub 20k for second hand 2012 so resale is shocking .

It's not going to be a daily driver but something 2nd hand but newer than 2010, reliable, something i can take light 4wding (beaches, dunes etc) and throw gear in the back without worrying about scratches and stuff. Better suspension / tyres for sure

Even though its china made and cheap they cant be that bad right? 105kw and 310nm worries me a little but a tune and breathing mods might help it out but then again, even 150-200kw is still going to be a slug

Trust me 147KW its no slug

had one for two years, no issues , had the 2.8 diesel, had to tune it cause no power whatsoever, blessed thing would blow huge clouds of smoke after tuning but more hp.

wouldn't recommend though as a Ranger was at the same price with just a little less fancy equipment.

One day the clutch stayed engaged while I was going through a drive thru, sold it next week.

fuel guzzling piece of crap. my offsider has one and i wouldnt go near it.
spends too much time in for repairs and got stiffed with the warranty as well.
grab an older hilux or triton instead if thats all its going to be used for.

I remember the Mitsubishi add campaign "Please Consider".

Everyone use to say Japanese piece of crap, blah blah blah.

Fast forward a few years and now Toyota and Mitsubishi are totally accepted here in Australia.

Same sort of thing happened more recently with Hyundai, now much more accepted than in the past.

Give it time and the same thing will happen with Great Wall. They will just get better and better and bigger and bigger.

You'd be better off with a 10 year old Hilux than one of these pieces of snot.

I've had a look on car sales and it appears the tritons are a better buy than the rest. At least for the money.

Gone are the days when i'll buy new and then spend more money improving it so i should be able to pick up an 11/12 triton with less than 60kms for a reasonable price. Ideally something which someone else has fitted with 4wd gear

I'm looking myself after a guy wandered in a few weeks ago & simply stated that he wanted to by my '03 Hilux SR5. Problem is, I can't find a more recent version of what I've got anywhere (might need to keep it!).

As for finding something already kitted-up - be careful as the good ones don't come up for sale. Generally the ones with all the 4wd extras have been used & abused - I reckon especially in the West!

we had one for work. it got DESTROYED!!! within 6 months. all paint peeled and chpped off the entire thing was completely fubard. we had a few since then and they allso ended up costing a hell of alot more then they were worth so works gone off them for good now

What is the problem with gaskets containing asbestos? Unless one is in the habit of pulling heads off motors, then grinding the gaskets up and breathing in the dust, asbestos in a gasket should be pretty safe. There is a massive scare campaign over asbestos directed and funded by big trade unions for political purposes. Anyway I see a fair few of these GW utes around and they seem okay. Never seen one broken down on the side of the road.

It comes down to two factors, finances and snobbery. Some people won't be able to overcome their sensibilities to own a Chinese car even when it can do everything a Japanese alternative can do at a cheaper price.

The irony of all the anti Chinese engineering posts on the interweb is 99.9% of them are made on devices engineered and manufactured in China.

The comment above is quite offensive to me and many other people, as the use of any Asbestos in any product is wrong, it is not only the final product that is the problem, also the mining, use and then disposal (especially building materials)

Asbestos KILLS and will continue to do so for many years.

My mate does crash simulations for a job, he said no way would he go in one of those utes.
