I was listening to a science lady on the radio the other day and sadly she said we haven't got much time on earth.
We are an extreamly fast expanding animal. We have already over saturated earth . It won't stop until we kill ourselves .
None of us care enough to make enough change for us to have a chance .
But if your an earth lover , all is not lost . No matter how much we farrrk it up , earth will re grow and not even know we were here . It's got time .
I believe her , I give it 1000 years tops .

Very true, but individual efforts have limited effect, Govts can set the agenda to encourage individuals and businesses, to do positive stuff. In Aus the feds are lagging behind business and some states. Some of their polices are discouraging renewables.

You mean tax them. How many consumers have you seen voluntarily hold back to save the environment? The cars are getting bigger, the houses are getting bigger, the dogs are getting bigger, the overseas holidays are getting more frequent. The Murray Darling is in bad shape yet we still buy t shirts like they're going out of style. Wear them for a couple of hours and throw them in the wash - and drier. It's not the wearing that wears them out.

Or buy everything from Woolies pre-packed in plastic?
Buy bottled water when the stuff in the tap is fine?

'we should brainwash them young and deny them any free thought or alternative view points'

It's pretty extreme to wipe out humanity altogether, we're very good at surviving one way or another. But it won't be comfortable.
The end of civilisation as we know it is another thing, there's a lot of vectors all pointing in the same direction.

Scarcity of fresh water, fuel etc, global financial situation, climate change refugees, quarrelling nations. And the list goes on.
Can we all pull together to prevent the worst happening?
I'm afraid I don't see much evidence of that, too many heads in the sand.
Too much false information, spreading fake news.
And I even think there's an element relishing the end times, when all the sinners will get gobbled up and the righteous will be glorified.

The term 'Sinners ' is very subjective especially considering the variety of beliefs.
Humans will survive as the elite will be transported to the moon and Mars.
When all is normalised this group will discover earth and start an elite population .
Dam I need to find something else to do.

Just take up paragliding.

No really,. The consumption of sh!t like plastic, power use, and things that used to last 10-20ys like a TV, washing machine,car etc has gone thru the roof.
Its ironic that the protest is organised so much more easily than before - using social media that nobody really needed. The internet was for academics but its become overly consumerised, driven by a 'look at me' culture, and the protesters avail themselves of it. We're ALL guilty of that. I'm pointing out the irony.
How many of those protesting climate change actually truly minimise their power use?

As to teaching the young folk? YES! Go teach them not to leave 13 devices on standby at home, not to own 10 pairs of shoes, not to get a new phone just cos your plan expired so now its free to get another, protest built-in redundancy (ask for lemon laws), not to let uni architecture teach trends like no eaves and black roofs in the sunburnt country - all sorts.

Its more fun to go and scream at the Govt who must be evil.

If we could all just agree...... that would be a good start

China tried a one baby policy, it was terrible and did little to reduce China's growing population. This is the reason they scrapped it.

Most western countries are already having less baby's. Some European countries have close to declining populations. All done with free choice.

If it wasn't for mass migration of mass baby breeders, Australia's population would be close to declining.

One child per two couples would have to work . To implement this would be horrendous . Flip a coin ?
Nute every second female at birth and also after giving birth . This is not sexist , it just won't work the other way around
Its not pretty .
As I said were not prepared for that kind of change .
So we will continue to breed ourselves to death .
