It's official!

We're giving away three pairs of the new Seabreeze Sunnies:

Since Dawn Patrol suggested here
www.seabreeze.com.au/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=37735 that there be only three guesses per date we'll stick with that, and if that's the date of the first seabreeze then those three people will get a pair of sunnies each. If the date doesn't have three guesses on it then the sunnies will go to the people who guessed the closest, and if there's more than three of them (for example if there's three people guessed a day before and two people who guessed a day after), then the sunnies will go to the three who posted their guesses the earliest. This counts guesses in these threads:

www.seabreeze.com.au/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=40361
www.seabreeze.com.au/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=40261
www.seabreeze.com.au/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=37735

Some rules in an easy to read list format:

  1. You may have one guess for the Ocean Reef
www.seabreeze.com.au/graphs/wa.asp weather station, and one guess for the Kurnell
    www.seabreeze.com.au/graphs/nsw.asp weather station.

  2. You must be a resident of Australia.

  3. The three winners will have the closest guesses to the first seabreeze on either side of the country. If your guess is the closest to the first seabreeze in Sydney and it's 5 days off, and Perth doesn't come in until a month later and someone gets it on the day, tough luck for you. The Perth guess wins.

  4. In the case of more than 3 people with guesses as close as each other, those who posted their guesses first will be the winners. That counts guesses made in the threads above.

  5. If you've already won something from www.seabreeze.com.au step aside please, let someone else score some goodies.

  6. There is no closing date for entries, however your guess must be made at least 10 days before the date you are guessing

  7. The first seabreeze will have four consecutive green arrows in the afternoon at either spot, associated with a high pressure system and blowing from the ocean inland, in the seasonal prevailing seabreeze direction (NNE -> ESE Kurnell, S->W Ocean Reef). A proper seabreeze. We will be judging based on the official BOM direction, using this map as a guideline

  8. The judges decision is final and any correspondance entered into will be printed out so it can be ceremoniously filed in the round file on the floor. That's if it isn't ignored entirely.

Johnt, when you say 'The old timers reckon the first blow happens on 15 September', is that your guess? Nebbian, you cannot have the 31st of September, that's reserved for Seabreeze moderators and their families...

These are the guesses as I have them so far, post your entries on this thread and I'll update the lists now and again. Last update was siwil's guess from page 6 and done on 04/09/08.

two"th of Sept (I'm an optimist) for OR

There will be a 3-4m swell coming through.

Greeny, Windy, Rider and all the Perth Crew will be given the day of work to go out and decimate the waves

So I have said, so it will be (I hope)

Define seabreeze??? For WA, does any southwester in the afternoon count?

Or must it be a west coast trough moves inland as a substantial high ridges in behind it, causing a proper thermal driven seabreeze?

Cos we usually get a front in late Sept (coincides with the spring equinox if that is the right 'event' name) ...and that brings a SW in it's wake like many fronts.

If any SW counts I vote 3:30pm this sunday as the graph shows a 4kn SW'er

Seriously though: define????

Drat!

I mean... seriously? Wow.

Isn't that like insider trading?

Ok then I pick 18th Sep for WA. Make sure you keep moderating the seabreeze up until this point, then make it blow like stink.

OK I just realised: first seabreeze of SUMMER? I pick 1st December 2008 for both Ocean Reef and Kurnell.
Seems all previous guesses so far are going to lose.

Bring it on.

Mark has a good point here at first I thought he was just a pessimist but Summer doesn't start until the 1st December so either everyone else is wrong or we need to change the thread title.
