I walk past your work every morning. I'll stick my head in tomorrow for a closer look:

I'm liking the minimalist or atmospheric stuff more these days, LM1, Indigo Sync's mixes et al.

Going for some beers and a meal, will pump your mix on the Zeppelin (just buy one) tonight, wake the neighbours up.

i enjoyed the song. thanks for posting it

my industry relavent 2 bobs worth (if it's worth anything) - reason and fruity have sounds that are so pre-processed that with some experience it's not too difficult to mix something in a flash, but if you've played/sourced your own samples and mixed it from scratch in something like poostools/cubase/logic then i think you've done a really good job of the mix and production

or are u djaying

btw - it sounds like the real deal and a lot of time spent on the arrangement i bet

(I understood it to be a mix btw?)

Agreed - sampled sounds from the real world have more grit. For example all of Star Wars's sound effects. They rock.

Another example: stacks of Prodigy's sounds are originally sampled/played live, not generated in the machine, if you follow:

I used to spend a lot of time mucking around in Reason, but now I have kids.

Hey guys, thanks for the awesome response! So cool to see a few Drum and bass heads out there. DNB has an energy like no other music (imo), it's the kite surfing of the music world, its tribal, uplifting and intense!

so to answers your q's it's a mix using a midi controller ( like a regular mixer that controls virtual turntables on my pc- i use traktor).

I used to dj about 8 years ago in Dj comps- battling, scratching, juggling- u know 5 minutes to go nuts, but now i've sold my decks and picked up traktor in winter as a past time. I may buy a pair of technics again and get time coded vynil. we'll see.

Anyway, enjoy the beats and let me know on soundcloud which trax you like!
i'll do a summer mix to boost too!

peace.

yeh. It's got lot of variety within it's own genre... from cool chilled and ambiental summery style, to tight upbeat energy intense tracks... my favourite is tight intense tracks combined with layers of either ambiental or jazzy/soul/funk feel...

But also another energy boosting genre = breaks... electronic/breaks... etc...

What i don't get though is the mainstream pop. Most sheep listen to that crap, and local radio stations are mostly so crap. There is hardly much veriety. Just mainstream pop mostly, which is 99% garbage. Every now and then some ok song pops out but that's all. When i was in states, there was a lot more veriety on the radio...

We have no decent radio in Brisbane. For me it's BYO music or nothing.

What really gets me is how all these blokey tradies listen to B105 (gayest of commercial radio stations) all day. I've marvelled at this effect for years, but at the moment they're building a house next door and I'm home with a newborn. These guys walk around all day yelling 'how about that carn on tv last night, that farker's an ugly carn I'd knock his farkin head in' and then they're listening to non-stop Britney, Katy Perry, Gaga, etc. Does not Compute.

---------

Nice mix Salty by the way, some nice tunes. Mine has 3 secs of silence around the 20min mark but I think that's my USB/copy not your mixing! I folllow Jamin on soundcloud, he puts up DnB mixes almost every week. I also like the harder stuff he puts up too. Might be worth a look for you.

Thanks for the link Salt. Love your work.

Brizy radio really sucks. I haven't got digital so maybe that's better. There is way too much talking too "Yesterday I saw a cloud shaped like an elephant.....phone in and tell me what shape clouds you have seen".

It is honestly that bad.

btw fellas this guy has put up EVERY Essential mix on soundcloud for download (possibly September only).

By my guess about 2000 hours of quality music.

Plenty of DnB in there, plenty of every style over the last 10 years. For those not in the know this is the best weekly dance music radio show there is. It's a high accolade to be invited on by Pete Tong. So dj's/producers tend to bring their A game.

^^^^ Thanks for that. Listened to Ronni Size all the way home. Haven't heard him since my ex stole my cd about 14 years ago.

That making of 'smack my bitch up' is also very cool
