Should be very interesting. after all the shock jocks have been beating the war drums for weeks, let's just see how "the peoples revolt" will go. If the turn out outside Gillards office in Werribee is any indication my bet is 3000. Personally I will be looking for those incredibly witty homemade signs, you know, those play on words ones .... J.U.liar etc. Can't wait !

Are there 3000 people in Werribee

If it means lower income tax then that's good for me

I for one believe that things should be taxed in descending order

1 Burning
2 Spending
3 Earning
4 Saving

Though if you drive 300kms a week to your minimum wage job and borrow money to buy pointless things to make you feel good about yourself, then I understand that you may want to protest.

I drive 500 ks a week. It's as close to my job as I can afford to live. What would you suggest I do?

You live 50km from your employer.
Every property within the 50km radius of your work is out of your price range.
There's no public transport.
You drive for two hours a day. Assuming you work an 8 hour day then you're being paid for 8 hours out of every 10.

So whats the deal with the proposed carbon tax? Will revenues raised be used to reduce income tax? Somehow I think whatever revenues are returned to the community, they will be scewed towards those on benefits and pensions. Taxpayers will receive very little reduction in taxes.

It would be nice for income tax payers to get a bit of a break as bills keep going up all the time. Personally though I am against a carbon tax I think it would benefit me as I walk to work and only drive when I want to drive. Same for my wife. Our electricity bill though rising is still fairly small as we don't have aircon and try to minimise power use.

However people like my sister and parents will be worse off as they have to drive to do anything as they live out of town on a farm.

In regards to the question I would not join a rally organised by the Melbourne equivalent of Alan Jones.

I think it will be used to stop income tax being increased as we all have to stump up to pay for the baby boomers as they enter 30 years of retirement....

Why is it that people who claim to be true blue australians, who are usually pro taxing cheap asian imports, don't mind that their exhaust pipe pumps cash to the middle east....?

Still awaiting the Patent approval. I'm no scientist and even I could come up with this using Google Images , Publisher, Word Art and a few glasses of Red Cordial. I think it would work a teat, I mean a treat.

Only hard bit would be not upsetting the animals when fitting the hoses. Pissed off pigs are not to be trifled with.

I was thinking something like a toilet plunger that would stick to the animals bottoms due to being under vacuum.

Could capture a lot of gas and create a large store of Methane?

BTW, how cool is the milking carousel. A side benefit could be marketing gourmet 'Centrifugal Cheese' to the rich and gullible. Yet another outstanding indirect benefit could be to feed underperforming politicians and criminal recidivists to the pigs along with other waste

Someone needs to tell Australia about Brazil:

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ethanol_fuel_in_Brazil

They've been doing the renewable energy thing for over 30 years! Man, something like this would beat the pants off a carbon tax, in terms of raw results.

What would also be more cost effective than a carbon tax would be laws or taxes that reduce the harmful affects of any potential climate change. For example the polar bears are put up as a species that will become extinct due to climate change. Why not enact a law that protects polar bears from hunting? Thousands are killed every year by hunters.

Also if sea levels are going to rise why not enact planning laws to prohibit land development on waterside property? Two birds are killed with that proposal. Firstly there would be less damage from rising sea levels and secondly there would be improved water access for everyone who likes to get on the water.

20+ years ago the planet was "cooling", more recently it's "warming", now they just call it "climate change" and now they want to add a "carbon tax"... Its all about increasing the government coffers to fund the future pensions for the aging population. (and feathering the pollies nest)

I just wonder abut the boffins that are so called "experts" that are brought out to support the government line. (maybe their funding might be reduced if they don't)

Jesus Christ, It's worse that first thought !. Just watched the scenes from the rally at Parliament House, Canberra and what a motly crew. Mind you some excellent home made hoaky signs ..... JU liar(of course) right the way through to Gillard = Hitler(?). Plus a bonus sighting of Pauline Hanson, awesome!. I was waiting for the tried and true demonstration chant to start. " WHAT DON'T WE WANT" ..... "NO CARBON TAX"......"WHEN DON'T WE WANT IT"..........."NOT NOW" .
