Just putting it out there again......if anyone has any for sale I am looking for Powell, Vision and Santa Cruz decks from the late 80's to early 90's.

If anyone has any photos of decks they are not keen to part with please throw em up so I can drool anyway....

Come these windless months going for a roll is the only thing that keeps me sane mid week- with daylight saving gone I don't get a chance to kite midweek - it is dark before I leave work - but the skatepark has lights all night !

Thanks Panda- got the box set of the dvds for my birthday last year, the Bones Brigade were all the rage back in the day.

I am specifically after a Per Welinder viking Skull and a Lance Mountain Crest, as well as a Jeff Kendall Pumpkin....

Here is a pic of 2 of my collection sitting in my shed waiting for my house to be finished so they can be proudly displayed....

^ Everyone in my office just said "I had one of those!"

No truck-guards. Hardcore.

Why can't we get sails that look as good as those skateboards? Is it hard to put some stickers on?

.... where can I get giant stickers?

My ol' Gotcha still going strong (probably thanks to the Cell Block on the rear truck). The SC sticker was added as it had a shape very similar to the Rob Roscopp and the Facelifts was apparently made by SC.

I did see a bloke at Rotto recently riding a re-issue 80s PP board. It was either a Mike McGill or possibly a Cab deck - super wide trucks.. sweet ride.

Still cursing the fact that I gave away my Surfer Sam as a teenager.. stoopid

Does anyone know if teflon copers (snap-on truck guards) have made a comeback? Man - they were great fun to grind on.. woo hoo - watch that board fly away from ya!!

Ha ha - got my ol' fashioned

If you want some copers Funky hit me up with a pm and you might get lucky- need to know what trucks they are for tho.....thanks for the photo Funky- nice ride, never saw that one- similar shape to the Mcgill in my first picture. The smooth crete of the modern bowls is endless fun on the old style setups.

My latest addition-

I don't know if it is the graphic that looks incredible or the time in our lives that we associate with the graphic that draws me to them.....

I am sure that somebody would be able to silk screen a sail, I have had stencils cut from tin plate of the powell triple p and the ripper and am currently spraying them everywhere I can !!!!

Alot of them haven't been reissued...... the Gator street scene above was his last deck before he got sent to prison for murdering his ex girlfriends friend.

The Vision Psycho stick is nice but the Vision reissues seem to not have a good quality wood being used.....

Awesome pics Rollo!

I always wanted a Hosoi deck but never got there. My skatey is sporting SC Hosoi wheels still though.

BTW - Not sure if folks know but Jason Lee (as per the deck in the pic) is tye actor who plays Earl from My name is Earl.

Whatever happed to Christian Hosoi anyhoo??

Hey Geoff - can't make out the name on the brown deck but it looks a bit like a Natas deck from Dog Town or possibly Alva? Hang on - just noticed Rollo posted a pic of a Natas deck!

Another useless 80s skatey fact - If you remember Gator - he was the inspiration behind Sonic Youth's song '100%' after he flipped out on LSD and got a little psychotic, killing his girlfriend.. weird. EDIT: Ha ha probably should have read the other posts 1st! Great song though with Butch Vig at the controls too.

Christian Hosoi is back skating now- he got busted with narcotics and spent some time locked up as well...... I am seeing a pattern here.

Can you imagine what life was like for these guys- massive amounts of money, travelling around the world and treated like total rock stars everywhere they went. No wonder they got outta control.

Still got some of my old Thrasher mags stashed somewhere with articles on the RHCP circa 88'.

Anybody still got an Ozi Concave? They were as heavy as fek but such a sweet ride. Mine lasted me ages until one fire hydrant boost too many finally took it out..

BTW - does anyone know if Bulleen concrete snake-run (Bulleen bowl?) still exists?

I was lucky enough to go to a school that (foolishly) allowed us to do skating for sport once a week. We made our own way there by skate and bus, with about 1km of street skating on the way, then met the teacher there who oversaw things. I think the school was a bit niave in hindsight, but there was no shenaningans on the way from us as we definately didn't want to lose the priviledge. Angels we were.. No way would a school would allow that these days due to insurance and a very differant world out there. Sweet days for sure.

Thanks Tobes, that Mcgill is on my wanted list... cheers for posting up the top graphic too- that was the year that Powell stopped using the Ripper on top of every deck and used a rehash of the bottom graphic.

BTW are they bridge bolts I can see ?

Airbolts, Tracker Aggro's, Bullet 66's. Like a fool i chucked the flouro nose and rail guards.
Do you know what the design is called?
I've found a pic of a sticker, but never seen the same deck.

The deck is a Mike Mcgill Stinger, came after the Skull and Snake of mine that I posted a pic of earlier- I think this deck was released around the time that the street style boards were becoming more popular and therefore not heaps were sold.

Hey Airush,
are you familiar with/have you ridden a Smooth Star skatey???

If yes, what did you think?
If no, you should google it straight away and check it out.

Just googled it Bondalucci- there are a few brands doing similar things. The Freebord looks cool but along the same lines there are a few different trucks you can get or another complete the scriber as well.

The hardest thing is they all look cool but I want to try before I lay down my hard earned.......

Hey, I could highly recomend the smoothstar. They rip. Real fluent turns, and slides and they truely do self propel with a proper trimming technique. Get them on the flats and you will not push once. Definately very surfy feeling and great if your an ol school cruiser on the skateys who likes to carve, and they go great in skate parks/bowls! If you were in perth i'd say come have a rip on mine. But the vids and claims on the website are on the money.

Freeboards are more of a downhill thing to simulate snowboarding.

Cheers

Did you get the whole setup or can you just put the truck kit on any old deck ?
