RIP Alpha Channel
from Adelaide Now;
Mr Garrett yesterday gave the green light to a State Government proposal to use temporary environmental flow regulators to manage acid sulphate soils in the region.
Regulators will be constructed in the Goolwa Channel, near Clayton, and in the mouths of the Finniss River and Currency Creek.
Water will be pumped from Lake Alexandrina to the new temporary pool created in the Goolwa Channel, inundating areas of acid sulphate soil.
Mr Garrett's approval means the regulators can be installed immediately, without an Environmental Impact Statement
