When your sitting around having a few beers with your mates, telling stories about good or bad experiences. There is always someone with a better or worse experience than you. Here's my bad experience in the surf the other day....

Was catching a few waves on my 14' Laird. Was going along the face of a wave when I fell off the back of the board. The board spun sideways as I hit the water and I suddenly found the leg rope rap around my neck, tight! Being a heavy and big board, the wave started taking the board and dragging me behind it by the neck. The tention started to cut the circulation to my head and it was so tight that I couldn't get my fingers between the cord and my neck to loosen it. So I tried to grab the rope between my head and the board. While still being dragged along, I tried to grap the rope and unwrap it. But in the confusion, I ended up wrapping the rope the wrong way and around my neck a second time. Feeling the pressure build, starting to get hazey, thinking now that I'm royally f@#ked and going to blackout any second now. Finally, thinking how I was going to get out of the situation, I thought about the other end of the rope, unstrapped it from my ankle and got free. Wish I had of thought of that from the start

Went straight to the surf shop and changed over to the new FCS 9' leggie...6' straight, 3' coiled and wraps around the calf.




Only been surfing for about 1.5 years and thats prob the scariest experience I've had. That's probably pretty tame compared to most of you guys have been surfing for many years.....what would be your scariest moment?
