Down She Comes.
Gees! I was having such a lovely time down at Somerset Beach this evening.. Winds 20 to 25knots and a goodly wide Spit to sail on heavily accelerating Sliding through controlled turns a ton of 2 wheelers etc. Like I said "Having a lovely time" and then it happened a goodly gust grabed a hold of the Razor and started to take me over (least it felt that way) Upwind wheel was up about 900 to 1200mm and me trying not to go over than the next thing I know the Mast is down on the sand and we are coming to a Halt.. Bugger!! I my hast to use the mast when I first built I didn't put a section up inside it as Reinforcing.. Bugger. I guess now I will have to find a method to repair the #@*& Thing..
Mind you I WAS having a Ball until that happened..[}:)]

mast and mast step
i've nearly come to the last step in the llm build and would like to see how others protect the base of the carbon mast from being shredded/gouged from the seam inside the mast step. some yachts i've seen seem to have gaffer tape around the outside of the carbon mast at the base and then seem to have a rubber boot/spat? over the top of the mast step itself(maybe to keep salt/sand out of the mast step?). very sorry for inept questions but i see a stupid question is safer than making a stupid mistake. cheers in advance yet again

Laser Mast
Hi to all, been reading this forum for around a week and have convinced myself that i need a LLM in the garage, the construction of the chassis seems pretty straightforward and i will follow the plans (almost to the letter)for ease of build, have my welding gear and have built stitch and glue power boats before.
The one thing i am not to hot on is the sail/mast, i have managed to pick up a alloy laser mast and a windsurfing sail from the tip, could i use this? i know that the sail will need the pocket recutting for a straight mast, time is on my side but alas a budget is not!!
Thanks in advance Phil
