I've just registered for this forum because this was the best site I found to give some straight shooting about boards, gear, and paddling technique.
As my first posted topic I wanted to tell this forum about the 2nd Annual SUP race held at Lake Tahoe and 16 August 2008. I'm sure this event is very short fused for you Aussies to make (unless you have lots of money). Bob Pearson of Arrow Surfboards is one of the founding members for this event. It's a 7.4 mile race in North Lake Tahoe. It's an all-weekend event that's heavy on the aloha spirit. I'm planning to participate on my 12' Surftech Softop or my recently purchased 11'2 Starboard if I'm not able borrow on of the wood kit SUP prototypes (called the Kaholo) from my friend developed at Gray Whale Paddle in Roseville, CA. These boards look stunning, are made to paddle on flat water, super stable, and really light.
