ultimate vehicle for windsurfing
Ive currently got a ford territory 2wd and a family of five plus odd extras like kids friends to take windsurfing. This means if its just me the gear rides in the car with me but i only fit two boards and two rigs and one person in the car. If there is one more than me, boards go on the roof and the rigs fit inside. If there are three or more of us it means a trailer or two cars. Loading up five or more boards and rigs from 1.5m to 9.7m takes a while and if we stop somewhere i always think about the lack of security. I also want to go and sail a few places that only have 4wd access. Ive checked out a few options which are
1 landcruiser, patrol or hilux with a closed trailer
2 landcruiser or patrol with a big roof top box but doubt i would get 7 sets of gear in it.
3 f250 crew cab with long tray. Rare or $150k for a newish one
4 iveco daily 4x4 ideal except a bit low on highway comfort and probably have to buy new for $85k+ bodywork.
5 crewcab 4x4 ute with a chassis extension. Might be a good option. Can get 1m chassis extension for $6k. Almost worth a punt to see how it goes.
does anyone have the same problems, any solutions, or two cents worth?
