515 Meters in 10 seconds!
I was browsing though the GPS rankings and was startled to find that this craft had better 500m speeds than the best 10 second run!! How could that happen?

Also the, 100m speed and 2 second speed are the same!!

Then I calculated that 109 knots is about 51.5 meters per second, or 515 meters in 10 seconds! So the 10 second run is FURTHER than the 10 second run!!

Hooley Dooley!!

To me the interesting thing is that the iceboats and sleds posted on GPS-icesailing/landsailing are slower than the land yachts!

I think it is just a matter of development and opportunity. There are very few days a year when ice conditions and wind line up. Surprisingly, it's probably even worse than for windsurfing!
