2008 Olympic representative, Andrew Murdoch has won the 2011 New Zealand National Laser Championships, sailed at Torbay. Two day's racing were lost due to inclement weather, resulting in the regatta being shortened to just eight races, allowing one discard. Murdoch won the title on a countback from Wellington's top performing Josh Junior. In the Womens section, sailing the Laser Radial, 2008 Olympic representative Jo Aleh was a convincing winner from Sara Winther, with Melinda Powrie in third overall.
