All four cruising divisions were sent off on Course 12 today, starting in Dent Passage, heading south around Pine and Long Islands, then northward to White Rock, east to Denman Island and finally back to the finish in Dent Passage.
It was a day more redolent of the west of Ireland than the Whitsundays, with low cloud hanging over Dent Island and a quiet persistent drizzle accompanying the fleet as they set off under spinnaker in a fifteen knot southeasterly.
After the customary squeeze around the northern tip of Dent Island, the fleet tacked close along the western shore of the island dodging the north-running tide, before heading off across the passage to Pine Island.
