Sunshine Coast Kitesurfer wins Rnd 2 of the World Tour!

Keahi at the Australian Titles earlier this year
You might have never heard of Keahi De Aboitz, but you're definitely going to hear a lot about him in the future. He's only just got off the plane from winning the PKRA stop in Morocco, but the international kiting community is buzzing with talk about this talented young rider - remember he's only 18!

The PKRA stop in Morocco saw riders holding down 5-7m kites in the 25 knot wind,  with some big sets over 6 foot rolling in. Keahi wiped the floor clean with one judge awarding him a score of 9 for one wave, with his average being 8.34. Not bad for a curly haired, Aussie kid on a Cabrinha!

Keahi's what you'd call a waterman, he can kite - surf and he's also incredible on a Stand Up Paddle board. Last year in the final hear of the Noosa Festival of Surfing we saw him bust out a sweet little aerial - on a SUP board! That takes talent, and practice. Lucky he lives in Noosa - right next to the iconic First Point break in the Noosa national park.

Over the year we've seen Keahi pop up all over the place, from WA to a little island on Hawaii with his uncle Pete Cabrinha. He's obviously been to Morocco for this heat of the world tour, and is no doubt following the PKRA to the rest of the stops around the globe this year - finishing up at home (almost) on the Gold coast, Australia in December this year.

Keep an eye on him, he's destined to dominate the wave scene over the next few years. If you want to know more about the most talked about rider on the world tour - check out his website www.keahideaboitiz.com and then watch out - in 3 years time he'll be unstoppable.

Keahi's global adventures are made possible by the support of Cabrinha Kiteboarding & NPX wetsuits.
