BIG thanks to Ash, Emma and the organising crew from Lennox, AKSA and NSWKBA for putting on a sensational comp at Lennox Head this past weekend.
The wind gods showed up on cue first thing Sunday after a relaxing day of watching Phil's dolphin, killer whale and white pointer kites fly all day Saturday.
Speaking of sharks, the lifeguards cleared the water along the entire beach on Saturday when they spotted a pair of 3+m Tiger Sharks cruising directly through the comp zone for about two hours. A helicopter, zodiac and jetski chased them out to sea eventually. Seems they returned with a few friends on Sunday morning and on Monday the newspaper reported that there had been four tiger sharks. Lee Kavanagh reckons he cruised right over one just outside the comp zone Sunday during a free-ride session. (BTW, this is near the same beach where a woman was knocked out of a kayak last week and bitten by a 4m white pointer...)
Wind was cranking all day with 20-30 knots of nor'east and sunny skies.
Couldn't have been better.
