All is Lost
Watched the Robert Redford movie "All is lost" on DVD last night. Now I knew what to expect, I had read pages of reviews from the Pommie yachting forums and was aware I would be fighting the urge to scream at the TV screen. But it was really bad! The acting and camera work was first class. There was pretty much everything wrong with his actions and reactions and I found myself disappointed when he did not drown at the end.
Could not use this film as a training tool and say do not do this because some info will stick. His immediate action should have been to shore up the hole, cushions/furniture on the inside, spare headsail hauled around the hull on the outside. This all happened in the first few minutes. Really the movie should have been about 30 minutes long. He spent more time shaving and eating than preserving his vessel.
And where did he find all that great weather!
