My new Hot Log has me jumping for joy

Got delivered today so I waxed it and took it out in some pretty iffy 1 - 2 ft rubbish

I wanted i real noserider and that's what I got, I only had the one left that allowed me to soak my toes in snot for any length of time, but it was more than enough to prove it works.

Other things I noticed in my first sesh:

She paddles well and should be a good wave catcher

It loves a nice clean face and thinking you're going to be able to ride her through the wash to get to a good face, is probably not the way to go.

The ride is a strange sensation for me, it's kinda, plush and armchair, nothing harsh, I liked it, it's the way a noserider should feel, it lets you concentrate on moving around. There was not a bit of chop out there today, but my harder railed pintails would have transfered more of it through the board.

And as far as moving around goes, I need to work on getting a bit further back for my turns. It didn't take long before I was improving my turns, but that was only because I was throwing my rear foot further back. I really need to get all of me to the back.

I think I'm going to enjoy learning how to ride this one, it's a pity I only have this weekend to learn before I'm out of the water for up to 6 weeks. but at least I'll have something to look forward to when I'm allowed back in.

My new Nose Rider
Picked her up this arvo, probably won't get it wet until next weekend.

I got a few extras on this one, 12.5mm cedar stringer (the last one was a 12.5mm Tband)

And a big Volan deck patch along with a big Volan fin patch

Unlike the allrounder, this one does not have its tail foiled away to nothing, it nice and rounded with a cute little upturn, matter'o'fact, there's not a sharp edge anywhere on the board.

The basic outline and rocker are stock standard SSD nose rider, but I had him tweak the nose and tail dims a bit to help me out as much as possible if I managed to get my hefty frame anywhere near the olfactory nerve. The shaper commented on how strange it looked in the bay, but I told him, "if it don't work, I'll take all the blame".

Overall it's smaller than the allrounder in all the other basic dims 10' x 23.75" x 3.5", and compared to my other SSD, the tail is really wide, which is something that I wanted.

Oh, I almost forgot, they don't usually put a logo in the middle at the front, that something I always ask for because I like a reference point. This one is exactly 38 inches from the nose, my last one was about 42. The logo says "Barney" it's a bit of a gag because the designers nic used to be Barney Rubble.
