Murky Water
First ever post - been reading for a few months and for me a great forum to learn from. With all the rain around Sydney the rivers are extremely murky. Recently got a Coreban Edge and trying to improve distance and technique. Set off from Yowie Bay, down Lilli Pilli channel and headed east along mad mile. About opposite Little Turriel Bay a 6 foot plus shark (likely bull) cut the water in front of me, and cruised past to starboard. I stopped for a moment, raised the paddle ready for a defensive sweep but obviously he wasnt interested. I then turned around trying not to fall off (not used to kick turns on this board yet) and high tailed it back. No one was around and I am glad there was no boat wash to potentially capsize me. I had thoughts of him stalking me, but didnt see him again. There had been a seal all the way up in the middle of Yowie Bay for the few days prior to the big wet, and in all the murk I wonder if he is safe. Surfed around Cronulla for years and swim in Port Hacking over summer and only ever seen tiny shark when kayaking up near Audley. This confirms to me however there are moderate size noahs in the Hacking. So in the dirty water take care guys - especially if falling off in Baysurf.
