lil'stig and i have just completed our stack of wheels for the coming season
and realized there wasnt enough resin left for another 26" wheel , so we decided to try another experiment thats been bugging us for a while now.
would it be possible to incorporate a derailleur hub into a glass/ally composite 20" wheel?
This would theoretically lead to a bicycle built from broken carbon masts

or even a front or back wheel on a landyacht that could be driven as well as sailed
I will use use 2 rims ,glassed together, but as the hub is 57mm wide im using a 32and a 25mm rim glued together
the hub has been stripped back to expose the spoke attachment holes which will be the anchor points to the glass
ive made 2 molds, one to seatthe hub and another to be used for making a backing disk when the second disc is attached
the materials will be all the chopped strand offcuts from making all the other wheels
heres the first two discs laid out . i found some nylon peel ply in a box of bits and have laid that on to give a good glueing surface later
rims have been glassedand ready for next step
