“SUP BOP & River Races”
The BOP Races
• The races will see Stand Up Paddlers contest a Battle of the Paddle as part of the Australian Longboard Surfing Open at Kingscliff.
• The start and finish line will be in front of the Cudgen SLSC
• Course: Competitors will start the race from a Le Mans standing start in the sand, racing to turning buoy 1, then turn parallel to beach to turning buoy 2, head to the beach to turning buoy/flag 3 back through the surf to turning buoy 4, head to the beach to turning buoy/flag 5, back through the surf to turning buoy 6, then turn towards the shore where they will endure a dry sand beach finish with their paddle in hand.
• The first competitors who cross the finish line in their respective divisions are deemed the race winners.
Venue & Scheduled Race Date BOP
• Where: main contest site, Lions Park, Marine Parade Kingscliff
• When: Thursday 21st and Sunday 24th March
• Distance: approximately 4 km's
• Competitor Marshalling: 9:00am - 10:00am at Starting Venue
• Start Time: 10:30am Sharp
• Presentation: Sunday Main Contest Site Lions Park Marine Parade Kingscliff
Divisions BOP
• Amateur Divisions for Open Men, Women and Over 40s

Race Rules
• Maximun12'6" Board size
• The races will commence with a Le Mans style standing start in the sand,
• Each competitor must finish with their paddles in their hands and in control.
• If a competitor falls from his/her board at any time, no more than 5 “prone paddle strokes” can be engaged before getting to their feet unless resigning from race.
• For fellow competitor safety leg ropes must be worn and attached securely to your craft.
Trophies
• Trophies 1st, 2nd & 3rd in the Open Division, 1st in the Women, 1st in the Over 40's
• There will be no prize money
The River Race
• The races will see Stand Up Paddlers contest a River Race on Cudgen Creek as part of the Australian Longboard Surfing Open at Kingscliff.
• The start and finish line will be in front of the Air Sea Rescue Tower at the mouth of Cudgen Creek.
• Course: Course: Competitors will start the race from next to the Air Sea Rescue base, they will then head up Cudgen Creek to the yellow buoy at the Casuarina boat shed and back to the finish on the beach next to the Air Sea Rescue base. Each competitor must finish with their paddle in their hand.
• The first competitors who cross the finish line in their respective divisions are deemed the race winners.

• Where: Cudgen Creek 400 metres south of the main contest site, Lions Park, Marine Parade Kingscliff
• When: Sunday 24th March
• Distance: approximately 3 km's
• Competitor Marshalling: 7:30am - 9:00am at the main contest site, Lions Park, Marine Parade Kingscliff
• Start Time: 9:30am sharp
• Presentation: Sunday Main Contest Site Lions Park Marine Parade Kingscliff
Divisions River Race
• All divisions are for amateurs,
• Open,
• Over 45,
• Under 16,
• Novice,
• Under 14ft
Entry Cost River Race
$55 per competitor includes
• Race entry fee
• Registration pack including event t-shirt, spot prize and promotional items
• All amateur paddlers go into the draw to win a SUP board from our good friends at Illusions Noosa. Competitors must be at the presentation to win the SUP board.
